The resale thing really hurts us husky guys. As for the kick start that seems to be a different case for each person you ask. Mine for example will start by kick start when its cold, but once hot you can kick till you are blue in the face but it won't start. But other people say their's starts up just fine. Hopefully yours will start just fine by kick. If it does I'd just take the whole electric start system out and save a few pounds. Don't do the suspension yet until you are sure you like the bike and want to keep it for at least the next few months. I am having the same dilema as far as suspension goes. I am waiting to see how this all plays out. If it doesn't work out well I may be going to another brand (sad to say).

my starter has not really worked the last 2 years on my '10 TE250. I'm 5' 8" and kick start it all the time (hot or cold). Just a matter of technique, i think (i rode a cr 360 left side kicker in the 70's, so i learned the hard way :-) ).

Mine just won't kick period. I do know the technique but it just won't kick. Ive had other people try too. It might start 1 out of every 15 tries.

Thanks for the response. Kicking 15 times will not be an option. 1 or 2 kicks and go. Or the bike goes. Giving up that time in arace is crazy.
I still have a perfect GG300 to race so hopefully I work out the bugs with this bike. I am pissed at it and say I wont get the suspension done, but then I will always wonder if it is the one that got away. Already 7 k in the hole whats a few more bucks

that sucks. mine cold, pull the red lever, starts first kick every time (even after sitting most of this winter it started on one kick - and actually the e-start worked a couple times too). when warm, its usually one kick, but sometimes two. probably on tomorrow's ride i will have to kick 20 times......

Got the bike back on saturday and the E start turns it over easily rode it for a short period probably hit the button 8 times all good so far hopefully the issue is dead and buried.

My 2012 TE310 would rarely kick start. Lever was hitting foot peg. Shifted lever one spline forward, clears peg, starts easily now.

Husky gave us a new set of starter gears for our '13 TXC310R when it started becoming hard to turn over. Has worked splendid for several weeks now. BMP also recommends checking the valve clearance if hard to start. They have fixed several bikes this way.

Hey guys just bought a 13 TXC310. How do I find out if it has upgraded stater parts? I am buying it from Tri County Powersports. Put deposit down today. Reading this thread has got me a little worried. Any other recalls or updates I should ask about?
    Thanks

Can you get an extended warranty? You might want to consider it. My brand-new '13 te310 is having starting issues and I'm waiting on b/o'd parts from Italy to try and fix it. They've replaced the starter motor and fuel-pump. Next they're going to try the sprag assembly and something else I think......

This thread was the tipping point for me. I was strongly considering taking advantage of the clearance prices to get either a 310R or a 250R, but I don't need to spend $5k I don't have for a bike with a fragile, iffy starting system. Now, if they all kick started consistently, I could probably look past the possible e-start issues. But since I'm seeing numerous folks say they can hardly kick start the bikes, that's the nail in the coffin for me getting an X-lite. This is a good thing, because I really don't have the $5k (plus all the goodies) to drop on another bike right now.

Just spoke with service at Tri County where I am buying 310 from. He told me the problem was taken care of on the 13 models. He was going to check bikes vin to make sure bike has all upgraded starter parts. If not they have all the parts stock and will change them out. Hopefully Ill have a trouble free new 310.

Sounds like you should be taken care of then. It's definitely a "luck-of-the-draw" thing. My buddy and I both bought one of these bikes at the same time. His has zero problems, e-start or kick.

I have a 2012 TE310 and in 6 months the e start has failed 3 times?? as in 3 times back to dealer to have it replaced. My dealer over here has just been awesome and so far it seems to be fixed. Until I joined this forum didnt reakise so many others having dramas. When mine fails its like I have a flat battery sort of goes to turn the motor over but as if the battery is dead it does nothing.

Can someone upload the VIN numbers that are warrantied under a recall so every can check their bike. My dealer is useless and pretty much won't even help me so I am on my own here.

Well I got my starter replaced today. We pulled the old one out and WOW it was bad...the motor windings had come undone and the dealer said they've never seen anything like it, they don't even know what could have done it. I tried posting a video of it but it won't allow me too. It's pretty bad though, if anyone is interested PM me and I will send you the video by email.

I hate to tell you guys but my 2012 TE310 is on its 4th starter fix(2 starter motors,2 starter gear sets,2nd starter clutch, woodruff key)After many emails to Husky customer service, the latest and final fix willbe new camshaft/auto decompressor.
If this doesn t provide any reliable starting then I will part ways with this Italian headache! I think 1 year of repairs is enough.

I d hold off on the suspension Ed.
