You may be in luck; GasGas now owns the rights to this engine and should be releasing models with it installed in the near future. We can hope that they address this weak spot in the engine design....or at least make a friendly to install deletion kit. If I were you I would go back to kick only mode until some obvious improvement path is made. I assume you have access to GasGas dealers in Spain ;)

On the other hand, weve been running over a year with the upgraded gears and never had another problem, so you may just be experiencing the worst case scenario.

I also believe the exhaust valve/decompressor has been/is the cause for many of these bikes and without Tech Bulletins sent to owners of record it's a nightmare for owners. It would have been really simple to execute. Write up new clearance spec and save as PDF. Email or snail mail PDF to all dealers and owners of record world wide. Instruct to insert in their owners manual replacing the stock spec. Problem solved for many including me. If not for a wink and a nod from Tinken about this my bike would have been tossed from the second story window.

Correct cut the exhaust clearance to a smidge tighter than spec and it does wonders...Thanks for reminder Johnrg

And I forgot to mention last time this happened, I had another issue: kick start shaft cracked. Yes, I kicked hard, but this was amazing ... I think this is due to materials quality .. ? In fact, there is a 'improved kick start' as well ... Anyway I already have a second hand shaft (saving some money) and waiting for some gaskets ...
About the exhaust valve, shim was changed (0,20 mm I think), and that improved it, yeah. We'll have a look again.
As for the Gas Gas, it's true, and they say this engine will be in 2016 models ...
I'll let you know how it goes when I have all fixed again ...
    Thanks and regards.

I can tell you as someone who's gone thru the process. The lack of starting has a lot of miss information around it due to the amount of parts in play and the only real way to go about is to pull things apart and test BEFORE you start dumping money into parts. Been there done that. It can be any part of the electrics including the relay. Others have had issues with ring and pinion, sprang or the woodroff key shearing off. Lastly the starter. It's undersized with small brushed held inplace by plastic bits that take crazy high heat depending on where you live. The starters in this area are instock or at least they were when I checked last week the list is around 285.00 but I've seen them for around 250.00.

Hi after replacing the starter parts that had failed after 1 month my bike started stalling again AND NOT RESTARTING EASILY WHEN HOT.

FINALLY I FOUND IF U UNDO THE THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR AND ADJUST IT FULLY IT NOW STARTS PERFECT AND DOESNT GET HOT.

MORE FUEL TO AIR NEEDED THAT WAS IT

Are you saying that you changed the adjustment, or put it back to the stock setting, or what?

Changed adjustment to full fuel, the tickover was then nice and high so again helps with stalling. The TPS is anti clockwise fully at mo, runs best it ever has took 8 months to discover!!!

Forgive my ignorance, (My TE310 is new to me) but on my BMW, TPS positioning is set by the bikes computer.. and can be "reset" by removing attachment to the battery for a minute or so, then re-attaching battery and then bike on (first key position, but not started) and then opening and closing the throttle a couple of times so that the TPS is "relearned."

How on our Husky's do I adjust the TPS? (or link to thread?)

Is this the same as the "idle adjustment" on our bikes? Mine idles at around 2K or so, BTW.

Possibly a problem with the auto decomp - valve clearance is critical - my valves needed to be replaced as they were wearing from the tip

I've been staying out of this cuz I really don't see SteveL's issue in the same vain as the xlite starter issue. I do agree with what he saying but rather see it as a different issue that's symptoms also present as hard to start.

I think the best way to adjust the TPS stop is with ibeat software hooked up so you can get a reading of what you're doing but I'll be the first to admit I'm not an expert on the process.

Thanks Joe...I THINK I get it now.

Seems that w/o using the iBeat software you would just be uping the idle as the throttle is just opened up more at throttle rest.. (unless the EFI computer makes it's own adjustment as a closed loop system (?) ...and then if you go to the throttle adjustment screw to lower the idle RPM, who knows where you end up with EFI settings throughout the entire RPM range.

I use a JD tuner anyway, and I want factory stock settings of EFI, then the JD to make EFI alterations.

The TPS Stevel is talking about is the red head keihin model FI not the Mikuni(iBeat) style. Mikuni uses iBeat to set the TPS. They call it a magic mod on the KTM Keihin...

    Reveille,

thanks for the missing piece of the pie. . . I forgot in 2012 the TE had the keihin and the TXC had the Mikuni. It wasn't till 2013 that they both had the keihin/redhead.

Not the red head you're thinking about. The bike in the video looks like an 09 TE which has the mikuni FI.
    2012-14 TC250 have Keihin. 2013-14 TE/TXC 250/310 have Keihin.

Way of topic now. The posted video wasn't from Stevel. I was clarifying a previous post. We are deep in the weeds now.
