My latest feeling is actually to remove the airbox and route a Uni pod filter in extra space made vailable under the seat in battery box area - having fitted a small Li battery.
Pic of my brothers 610 about to be de-watered after a small creek crossing. My old DRZ went through no probs. The 610 air intake is too low and will suck water in. http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e360/southies-stuff/ZigZag140210002.jpg
I ran across this guy's attempt to address the spinning brass insert syndrome (amongst other tid bits). I'm going to give it a go. So far, everything is still intact so I have something to start with. http://www.motoiq.com/magazine_arti...a-te610-part-6-horsepower-and-handlebars.aspx
Yes indeed - I need to do a full write-up, just not had a chance. I did a complete airboxectomy, fitted a small Ultrabatt Lithium Ion battery and routed the air intake to a two stage Uni pod filter in the remaining space in the battery compartment. Here are three pics - I must shoot some of the whole thing buttoned up, side covers on etc. Neat and great mod IMHO.
So.. Only two years late to the party, but would that be this http://www.amazon.com/Uni-Filter-2-stage-Straight-Pod/dp/B002OKM1BK Id love to see a write up also and/or links to parts. Looking at a 2007 610, but the air box is giving me pause
and what size is the carb intake? I'd like to order all the necessary tubing and everything before i start taking anything apart.
Looks like a great idea, I did a water crossing last week and all I could picture was water getting in... Made me go through real fast.
i did get the 07 610. haven't sunk it yet, and unfortunately just put in a fresh standard battery (old one crapped out during a trip). still interested in pursuing this mod at some point down the road though - if you do have any additional details please post them up, it'll save me (and others perhaps) some head scratching thanks!
dima! please answer my above question or better yet order the appropriate parts for me and i'll pay you back ;p
I will test stock airbox for water resistance at Green Falls ASAP, bike is now running and I can hardly wait to put some miles on it
