Nope, it's the oil pump cover for sure. I cleaned it all off and dabbed around with a dry paper towel while it ran to find the source.
Yes, bunches. And there are 3 at my work. And they have all ridden mine as well.We all have ridden DR 650's as well. A KLR will go 85 to 90 MPH stock as well. What does yours top out at? It has more low end and pickup, for sure. Just not really comparable to the Husky or KTM dirt bikes that are smaller.
I haven't topped mine out yet. I think the max speed reading on the gear cluster says 85. I could go faster than that in first gear on the ZX-10R.
The 630 will go faster than 85 . On a secret test run spot , my speedo recorded a max of 155 km/h ....It has more but...at that speed my helmet peak was trying rip my head off ...so enough for me ! KP
Bit over 160 kph on the German Autobahn ... and could have done more except for the fact that the suspension setup needs tlc and steering wobble set in. But max speed is NOT really the object with a sumo. You could get practically any speed by changing the sprocket. And you can believe me that 160 kmh is plenty without a fairing in the sit-up-an-beg position. You need strong neck muscles. We´re in the middle of a long heat wave and I definitely need to change the left side zorst heat shields. Would the 510 carbon ones fit?
I dunno. It's fast enough for me. I didn't buy it to go fast. As long as I can keep up with traffic, it's all good.
www.billshusky.com sell CF heat shields for the 630 for $140. Also available in Husky acessory catalog.
Just picked up my 630 yesterday. My first impressions on the initial ride definitely confirm what I've been reading on the surging. The popping noise is evident as well when de-accelerating. The idle fluctuates between 1600 and 2150 rpm. A minor nuisance item is there is no place to store the tool kit under the seat like the 610. Doesn't matter - I'll end up getting a travel bag anyway. My instrumentation panel is set to Kilometers - does anyone know how to switch from Kilometers to MPH? I didn't receive an Operators manual from my dealer. I rode the 610 for approximately a 1,000 miles before the cam bearing grenaded a second time, and have a pretty good baseline for comparison. The 630 is definitely so much more smoother in operation. The vibration is gone compared to the 610, and the shifting is extremely smooth. The hydraulic clutch by comparison is a huge improvement in feel. The seat is a definite improvement over the slab you get with the 610. I didn't get the the Lambda removal kit yet, but I can see what JT is referring to now. This will be my first upgrade for sure! Overall - I believe the operation is a vast improvement to the 610. I haven't attempted to top out yet as I want to do a proper break-in before stressing the engine.
(Rollster: PM Sent for access to 630 documentation.) G'day jtemple, My 630 is due in town within the week, would you be kind enough to PM me the Doc access also ? Thanks and regards,
PM sent! Make sure you PM me your email address if you don't know how to use FTP. I have some pretty detailed instructions ready to email out.
Just my input. My 06 TE610, geared 14/45 (1 tooth less than stock front) hit 103mph rather easily with stock exhaust. I did drill out the cat. Well broken in at 17,000 miles!
Ok- that's good to know. We discussed that at the dealer and he advised me that there is a potential for contact on the positive battery terminal to cause a short and recommended that don't keep it there, but that was placing the toolkit width-wise.
Placing the toolkit anywaywise above the batt seems dangerous to me. I've vibrated/chafed holes in like 3 tool bags in under a year, and I've actually welded with motorcycle batteries (on purpose) Welding not on purpose while riding would kinda suck. Just sayin
