We can't get mitas here. Well, I guess there's a canadian distributor but too expensive to ship to the states. We are waiting for the facotry to get their $h1t together. I'd really like to try the E09 rear on the husky. Those look like Bridgestone mx tires.
Pity - I use the E09 on my HP2 and was going to try it on the Hussy but was talked into trying the C02 - cheaper, gnarlier ... only saddle time will tell My 14 year old has been using them on his KDX200 and they stick like the proverbial shyte to a blanket.
I finally replaced the stock Karoo at 2700 miles with a T63. Not bald, but pretty low. I think the key was that I only ran 15 psi in it. I aired up to 25 at one point once I realized how low it was, but I could see the wear accelerate a ridiculous amount at that pressure. I've removed and installed a lot of tires in my time, but the T63 on our rear rim was the biggest bi!ch I've ever done. I though D606's were bad because of their stiff sidewalls, but that was nothing compared to this swap. A new T63 is a LOT lighter than a worn out Karoo (should be at 130 vs 140), anxious to see if I can feel the difference.
Hey Gang, Just wanted to give everyone another, more dirt focused, tire option.....The USA Heidenau importer has just received the K74 dirt tire........and boy, it's MEATY!!! Prices are still yet to be determined and I do have photo's, I'll post them soon! He also received a semi trailer of about 1800 other Heidi's Anyway, thought everyone might want to know about these new tires. BTW, they ARE DOT tires!! Sizes are 130/80-18 and a 140 along with the front 90-90 21. He doesn't have many but give them a call if your interested. If they become well received, more will be imported.
Yeah, yeah...need pix or it didn't happen. Seriously, before I buy something else. The heidi's may be pretty good but they are too damn much money.
I agree with you CJ as I rack up miles on my bike heavy like you do. For us cost is a bigger consideration, heck I'm on my 6th rear tire now in only 8 months. ...but...many others might still be on the stock Karoo or otherwise require only one rear tire every one or two years. For these folks cost is a low consideration. If I put on that few miles I would probably pop for the slightly better but way more expensive rear tire myself also. Last Friday I ordered the ultimate low price tire to try out, Shinko 244 "Golden Boy". One tire and one IRC HD tube shipped to my door for $59.72 total. I'll probably have it spooned on by the end of the month and will post back a review. _
Hmmm...funny you should mention the 244. I was thinking I'd order one out and try it, use it for putzing around town, road work, etc. Then get a D606 to spoon on when I know I'm going to be riding offroad. I can get both for the price of a K60, which I hear is not that great anywhere. The other consideration was a scorpion rally. May just get one of those and run it. I'm sure it works fine on and off, if it would just go 1800-2000 miles I'd live with that. They are right at $100. BTW, rockymountainatv.com has the D606 in 130 for $95 shipped. I think I'll order one anyway, lots of fans for this tire.
Soon, very soon....... OK, OK, here you go....... Complain all you want about these tires (K74), K60, K76 as well as others they make.......these are still an excellent tire option and worth a look. If you don't believe me than maybe Revzilla and other big name online retailers, along with other smaller retailers and big name off-road school wouldn't be buying these a container full at a time?!
K74, The two outer tires are the rears and the center tire is a front. Call Moto Amore 408-295-3004, Ask for John, tell them you saw them on Cafe Husky.
Well, I've spent a rediculous amount of time trying to decide on a rear tire and I think the K60 makes the most sense. I need something that will make it thru my 3000 mile summer ride without me having to worry about changing in mid-ride. I don't think there will be a lot of mud, but there will be some sand. I need two, one for the WRR and one for the 630. 'Sure don't look forward to wrestling the stiff sidewall and bead over the rims but a little extra sweat won't hurt much. I run the Tubliss system so it will be a bit harder than normal (no tire machine allowed). The question is size. 130 for the WRR and I guess 140 for the 630? Johngil, what size are you running on your bike, or if he's not reading, does anyone know?
Yes, 140 on the TE and 130 on the WR. I think the'll be fine for your trip. John says he's run the crap out of his K60 and it's pretty good. It's gotta beat 1200 miles for a 606.
I have over 2000 on my 606's now and they are down to 3/16". No way they will make it all the way. Maybe on the 250, but I doubt it. Gotta have something a little more durable and I'll just have to suffer a bit in the sand.
I wouldn't hesitate to roll out on a big trip with the K60. The tire gets much more bite at lower throttle levels than what is expected and that changes things a bit. Obviously it will not be ideal for sand, but if you're heading out for a 3,000 mile trip with gear I'm sure you're looking to avoid the real tough stuff.
Hey Ken, I have a 140 K60 for the TE630 and they do make a 130 but for one size smaller rim. On the new K74's both 130 and 140 are also available.
Hi Jon, Would you please confirm it is the K60 SCOUT 140/80 X 18 - 70S and not the 60 SCOUT 140/80 X 17 - H17 ? Thanks, Russ
