Oh my! I have more tread depth on my current D606's and they have over 2000 miles now, mostly non-pavement though. I think I measured the depth at 3/16". I suspect the K60's will last longer off pavement though, and I'm not heavy on the throttle when on the highway. Just trying to keep the wear down that way. I will know for sure at the end of September, and I'm more like 20/80 on/off. The 606's get really loud once you get it really flattened out, and though it's not a real issue, I suspect the K60's will be quieter all the way to the end due to the tread pattern. Thanks for the photo!

So I have ~1200km on the rear 908RR, has seen a mix of tarmac, gravel (most of the mileage so far) and a couple of hundred km of mixed trail (sand, washed rocks, tacky clay singletrack with tree roots etc. on the East side of Koocanusa) usage at ~12psi. So far seems like a pretty decent compromise tyre with decent wear; dropping the pressure off road fixes most of the stiffness issues.

On the other hand I think I am going to have to check the rear sprocket bolts a touch more often (and not forget to put my tool kit back in my backpack after a group ride where I had taken it out to lighten up a bit). After seeing a few of the issues on here before I had taken the bolts out, confirmed that the had Fuji flanged lock nuts, cleaned off the threadlocker, cleaned with solvent, dried off then applied Loctite 271 and torqued to spec. It was pure dumb luck that I happened to stop to check out the GPS trying to find a connecting route from where I was to where I wanted to be and I had gotten off to stretch my legs and only minutes before I had been doing ~125km/h down a highway as well. The lack of a tool kit removed the "limp back to town" on the remaining two bolts that still had nuts on them (albeit finger tight) and my bike made it back to town on a trailer.

Here is my D606 with 2000 miles with probably 50/50 pavement and gravel/dirt. I've got a few more miles on it if I want, but not a lot.

I just ordered a D606 from Bike Bandit. With the AMA discount, a $10 gift card, and using $4.10 in "Bandit Bucks", I got the tire for $81.78, including tax and shipping.

I was happy with the MT43 that's currently mounted for the trip to DV and back, but I think it's borderline too small for our bikes. I didn't have any problems with it, and the performance was great, at my level of riding, which I'd call noob/intermediate.

Just mounted a D908 with Tubliss for upcoming CO/UT trip. Hoping I haven't made a bad choice in the 908 with regard to its stiffness (it is prob 3x stiffer than the stock Karoo). With the Tubliss this is basically a run-flat setup, I have 10 psi in it and it hardly flattens out at all. My thought was it should go 3K plus miles, be good in the sand on the White Rim Trail, and easily cope with the weight of the luggage on the back of my bike. Now I'm worried how it will do on rocky terrain. I intended on using a T63 for this trip but my guy couldn't get one until a week before we leave and I didn't want to cut it that close. I know there's limited experience out there with this tire but what do you guys think? Surprisingly, it was very easy to mount, much easier than the T63 I just put on the KLX.

The D908 is very strong and was I believe designed for the Dakar originally. No doubt it has a hard sidewall but the advantage is that one can virtually ride it flat if necessary. Not sure about it with the Tubliss. I found it very capable in most all conditions. No problem with rocks although probably not as soft a ride as some other options - but this is the compromise. I took it off the bike at about half life to try a Mitas C02 for a long trip where I wanted an even more aggresive tyre ... been meaning to put it back on to finish it but you know how these things go, and before you know it you have a pile of half worn rubber!

Theres only ONE tire on this earth that I will buy again, and again, and again, and again.. after trying 7-8 different dual sport tires (including scouts) .. and that is METZELER ENDURO SAHARAH 3'S :notworthy:[IMG]

I like the Dunlop 606's. I do not like how the front 606 is only good for 1 rear tire. On both our 630's the front looked good after the firts rear tire. We put on a 2nd rear and the front starts cupping like noting else I have seen. Wheels ballanced on both bikes. So I went with the IRC-TR8 set this time around. I was hesitant as the rear is only 4.50. So far I am happy with the set. I ran TR8 front with the 606 rear (the 606 front did not make it through 2 rears) for awhile and liked the combo real well off raod. I have not had the TR8 set off road yet, but imagine it will do great. No clue on mileage yet as I have only 1 ride so far on the rear.
Specs of the TR8's are Front 3.00-21, 51P. Rear is 4.50-18, 70P. The rear is a bit smaller all around then I would prefer, but it has a 70 load rating so it should do fine. I also like the non-directional knob pattern for DS use.

These come stock on my new TR650 husky. so far (652 miles) I love them. At $150 for the rear and $125 for the front they better last a long time though as i can get 2 Motoz for that. How many miles you getting out of them?
Thought I'd report back on the 908RR... I'm very happy w/ how it performed on the trip out west. I ran it at 7-10lbs off road and 15-17 on road. It got excellent traction on rocky stuff in the mountains and in some nasty deep sand w/ water on top in Moab. It has ~1000 miles on it so far and shows little wear, I'm certain it will go 2500 miles. I'm also pleased w/ the Tubliss setups, we had no tire issues on either bike.

There was a little groove which I measured at 0.043" deep from the surface of the factory coating at the deepest point and I got a measurement on the factory coating of ~0.020" with a UT gauge so the groove on mine was only ~0.023" thick; thus my repair strategy was quite a bit simpler than yours and only involved some solvent and a can of flat black spray paint.

yes, I think so....I contacted an aluminium-expert to do a weld seam reinforcement on the notch, as mine is almost 4mm in depth(I measured it but don't remember well).

On the other hand, despite the groove in my swingharm I run about 100km yesterday (almost all on pavement) in order to start my experience with Saharas: the agility on street is incledibly higher, and the safety feeling with the front wheel is more or less the double (this is just my personal feeling).

I run also a little bit of off-road also, just ti test, without any problem; I think my off-road limits are higher than Saharas ones.....

Finally, I think 've found my tires.

How is the front Sahara off road? I went to a Shinko 705 since I mostly commute with my bike, but in anything other than gravel the front end is less than inspiring. I'm not expecting D606 ability, but the 705 is pretty much a street tire.

Anyone used the dunlop 605?
The rears come in 2 sizes 4.60-18 & 120/80-18
Not to sure what size to go with.

Can't buy the 605 over here (USA). One came OEM on my KLX though and looks the same as a 606 to me. Good all around tire. The 120 should be the wider of the two by my calculator.

I just purchased a Michelin Desert for my next rear tire. Haven't mounted it up yet but will photo when on the rim.

Wonder if anyone else has tried this tire on their 630 with good results?

I have tried the Michelin Desert front and was impressed. Will most likely purchase another.
