I did the Beehive on my 530. It was a handful. Unfortunately I'll probably only be riding the Hammer on Sunday. Unless I can convince someone else to coach my daughters soccer team that day. Bummer to, Saturday usually has the most single track. I'll shoot you a message before and let you know.
Big bikes in tight NJ woods can be bad. I've done Sandy Lane for 2 years running. It's borderline "easy" on the WR, but on the 610 I think I would have left it in the woods and waited for the trees to burn down around it before trying to retrieve it.
I ride up there almost every weekend. Trust me, I know. But part of me likes the extra challenge of a bigger bike. Anyone can do it a little or light bike. I've had little bikes, 2 strokes, BB thumpers, etc. I can ride them all fast. I just can't ride them all fast for the same amount of time.
Here's a video I took back in June. It was my first time riding single track on the 630. Actually, it was only the second time I had ridden the bike. The ride starts out fantastic.
I'm on the ground a lot so I'm used to it. This particular time I blame the crappy MT21 front tire. Man that thing sucks. I can't wait to get rid of it and get something else.
I raced my 630 in an enduro this weekend. Unfortunately I ended up DNF due to a sprained knee (at least that's what I think it is) that progressively felt worse as I rode. The bike and I started out pretty good. But as the day went on fatigue set in and I started making mistake after mistake. Besides the fact that the 630 is a big heavy DS, my gearing was to high(I lost count of haw many times I stalled it), my bars are to wide and the front MT-21 sucks. Not to mention the suspension needs some tuning. But I think if those things are addressed and I wasn't constantly fighting with it, fatigue wouldn't set in as quickly. Plus I think I would be much happier with it in all the other type of riding I do. Anyway, here's some video.... Part 1 and 2 are from the earlier stages when I had lost of energy. Part 3 is a little more indicative of how my day went.
Trav was pretty damn fast on that big bike. In the shorter test sections, I think he only dropped 1-2 minutes behind me on my WR. It's not like he raced a GS1200. The 610/630s might be a bit big, but they're real dirt bikes.
Took part in the Hafren rally this weekend. DNF'd in sight of the paddock due to the engine dying for reasons as yet unknown (the bike's still in the truck, as I'm knackered so I've not performed a proper diagnosis) , but I suspect the temp sensor or TPS/MAQS (again) This was completely unrelated to the bent rad, broken tank plastics, snapped off Cycra hand gard, the broken off right foot peg, the snapped rear brake lever.. which all happened earlier in the day. I thought I was doing rather well considering, and was just hoping to finish when she died. Anyway, here's a video of the first special/timed section on the last lap (before I had the mental off which removed all that expensive stuff). http://vimeo.com/feef/hafren2013
Here are a few from our CO/UT trip in Sept. I've got a RR going on ADV right now. There are four TE630s in front of the camera bike here... View: http://youtu.be/jFKnHuWP5MQ Heading into Telluride. I met another (fifth) TE630 rider at the falls (4:00 mark). From Ohio also? Mate I am impressed with how you got that big girl through that stuff. Husky must be mad to have discontinued that bike. What a top DS bike they really are. I recon my 310 would beaten me up on that ride. That said it looked like a great bit of trail.
The TE 630 has excellent ability to climb everywhere and here shows excellent performance The climb is quite difficult if you do not seem These images are of two weeks ago My name is Rotax :-) View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2PrVgaXxOs8
I am the beginner perhaps it is the TE 630 to make a difference . In the most difficult stretches before this climb all helped me
Wow, these videos sum up my favourite form of two wheeled fun. Ya'll can keep your road bikes, give me a dirt bike and some woods any day and I am a happy man!
