....after checking LHS hoses and computer reset (?), I think it's time for me to take it to someone professional for diagnosis
Have you checked the plug on the bracket above the headlamp? They have been known to unplug and either not allow starting the bike or it will put you into limp mode. You need to remove the headlamp fairing to get to it but it's zip tied to the bracket just above the headlamp. Mine was not seated properly and was making and breaking connection. I was stranded twice before I figured out what was going on.
Charlie, I am sure you are talking about the Key Reader Coil connection which has indeed not allowed starting of the bike, but it always shows EWS on the dash and the OP did not have this. Furthermore once the bike is started, ie the key has been successfully read by the ECU you can actually unplug this connector and the bike will still run normally. As far as I am aware it does not put the bike into limp mode, but it will prevent a restart and show EWS.
If you have no more oil coming out of anywhere and the bike starts and runs normally without smoking, other than finding a dealer with a GS-911 tool to read possible ECU error codes, I think it will prove very difficult for anyone to be able to diagnose your problem(s). I would be tempted to ride the bike and try to re create the same conditions as when it failed to see if it does really have a serious problem. If it doesnt do it again, you must have sorted it in some way or other - continue riding :-)
What happened when you sprayed or dumped fuel/ether into the throttle body and tried to start it? (you may need to twist throttle some while cranking). If you put your hand over the TB while cranking, does any pulse push back or does it want to suck your hand into the motor? How strong is the suction? If you are worried about a hicky on your hand, just use your fingertips.
Try this and also try putting the bike in 1st gear and seeing if you can roll it forward to test the compression. It is possible that your 'Auto' decompressor device may be faulty ??
Ok, checked the following: - compression via 1st gear roll on. Plenty, not an issue - plenty of suction from the throttle body. Couldn't detect any push back pulse - sprayed petrol down the throttle and worked it. Wouldn't fire up, but at one stage felt like it was about to Oil is now coming out the breather tube again. I'm guessing oil has now filled the outer casing enough that it has reached the hose and so now hydraulically connected - seems to be pointing to the seal (sniff, sniff....) The other thing to note is that when turning it over there is a large gurgling noise coming from the breather and a visible mist/smoke is emitted when I stop winding it over
Ok, an update.... Was hoping to avoid it, but I trailered the bike 200km to the dealer I bought it from today. It's still under the 3 month statutory warranty. Their initial testing indicates low compression, so it looks like the motor will have to be stripped down ($$$). It will be interesting to see how this goes. They changed the oil and overfilled it before I Took initial possession of it, but I have done the pod mod, so they will no doubt try and point the finger at that. I have left the bike with them while they work out a plan of attack...
A waiting game ATM. It's still with the dealer waiting for a decision on warranty. I'll push further at the end of the month
Well the dealer has pulled the top off. It has seized - piston and barrel are buggered. He is now looking into whether the barrel can be salvaged. Any views on that? In terms of warranty, it has been politely implied to me that oil levels were too low, however if you look at post #36, this is clearly not the case....
No I don't think so. I was fairly careful with that. I kept a clean rag over the throttle body when it was exposed. Another line of thought, is there anywhere in the motor that could block the flow of oil and cause only partial draining of oil when the drain plugs are opened?
