My dealer in the UK showed me this letter last week... So I would say not much to worry about regarding support, even if the model is stopped.

So... can we stop panicking now?

SP wouldn't burn existing customers. That's how you ruin a brand. He wants to build on the strength and history of the Husqvarna brand.

In the April 16 edition of Cyclenews, Pierer says he doesn't see much future for the Nuda because it has a BMW engine and requires BMW diagnostics, which many Husky dealers don't have. He said he offered the Nuda back to BMW with the suggestion that BMW might re-badge it as one of theirs. He didn't say they turned him down. Perhaps we'll see the similar fate for the tr650. It's such a good motorcycle, I can't see it not continuing. It fills the 650 dualsport thumper slot like nothing else. I don't see future support being an issue. However, my dealer in NC is discounting both models by $1K, and I'm wondering what's up with that.

Various postings several weeks ago about the discounts: supposedly it is to clear stock in the supply chain as it shifts from BMW to KTM. Cheaper to run the units out via dealers than ship them to the KTM warehouse. But who knows ----

Well that's great news for me I just bought a 2013 Terra paid $5999.00 plus go $500.00 to spend on extras at the BMW dealer. Just worried that the price might still go lower thought..

I waited and keep checking the prices at others dealers and they matched the lowest price I could find. Looking forward to riding it been 11 years since I've owned a bike since my 1985 Honda Shadow got stolen.
 I'm 42 and this is the first new bike I've ever owned . Took me 9 months to save up the money. I can't wait to put some miles on it.

You guys will love them--Congrats!!! $6000 plus $500 on extras is an INCREDIBLE DEAL! Though I got in on the discount pricing a few weeks ago, I actually think full MSRP on these is deal, so even the early adopters got a great bike for the buck. I think this period of Husky pricing will be remembered as "the good old days" very soon.

Thank Guys!! I called my B.M.W. dealer about the tool kit and hard copy of the owners manual and they got them for my bike.:) So we should have all received them with our bikes. Thanks to this blog I knew to ask them to call the manufacturer to order them. Good work on sharing the info. My bike was not ready to get picked up today so I talked them in to selling me a helmet for half price. I tried to get 2 bikes for $10000.00 but they did not bite at that. If anybody is buying a bike in Mass. let me know they might go 2 for $11000.00

My perspective, unlike most here is following the evolution of the F650. It originated as an Aprilia/BMW/Rotax bike that has survived until today with all the legislated pollution restrictions. The Husky improvement punched the performance over the pollution obstacles for the mid/low range of the efi single (the most precious band for a thump.)

And now the evolved bike has returned to Austria where the Rotax engine started anyway, which is kind of cool (hint, hint, not Beijing - can you smell what I'm cooking?) . People have been bumped from all the Euro countries, which are like states in the US in area (Germany, Austria, Italy, Sweden, ...). I'm sure the expert mechanics will all be offered employment in the new plant. And even though the living standards may not be as nice as Italy, their dollar value should go further in an improving economy in Austria. Hopefully they will bump the workers in Beijing to add to Austria's employment in the old empty Rotax factory as well, ha ha.

I know the people being displaced is a serious issue, but for the consumer, thank God it is not going to China! Europe has been home of the elite motorcycles since day one. From working at Fiat and Bosch as an engineer, the transplaced (selected) operators from Europe have a determined commitment well beyond their cohort American operators. And any bike with the build, reliability, and high performance specs of the Terra has my vote built anywhere in Europe (esp. Italy, Austria, Germany, or Sweden). For a dual sport, it is a perfect motorcycle.

    Husqvarna and Husaberg Reunited
May 16, 2013 - In a Thursday letter sent to dealers, Hubert Trunkenpolz of KTM Sportmotorcycle AG and Stefan Pierer of Pierer Industries announced the reunification of Husaberg and Husqvarna under the Husqvarna brand.
"After a careful analysis and evaluation of all aspects, it was concluded to reunite what arose from the same roots 25 years ago. ln other words, combining the worldwide heritage of Husqvarna with the latest state-of-the-art technology of Husaberg will lead Husqvarna to a new era of great success."
An all new Husqvarna lineup is in the works to be debuted in October, 2013 and will include Enduro, Motocross, Sportminicycles and Supermoto segments. The new group company "Husqvarna Sportmotorcycle GmbH will be operational in Mattighofen, Austria as of October 2013. It appears all Husqvarna dealers will be retained and all Husaberg dealers will become Husqvarna dealers.
"As of October 2013, the new group company "Husqvarna Sportmotorcyte GmbH" based in Mattighofen, Austria, will be fully operational in the production and sale of the new model range to the Husqvarna network of dealers and distributors, which will be based on the existing Husqvarna and Husaberg sales network. Parts supply and Customer Service for all Husqvarna models up to and including Model Year'13 are guaranteed for the years to come and will remain at the current site in Biandronno (VA-ltaly)."
We are very sad to see the Husaberg brand go, however, the Husaberg philosophy is sure to live on in the new Husqvarna product. Husqvarna fans should be very excited. The brand will get a major technology boost and parts & accessories will be much more available using KTM's distribution network.
The current 2013 Husaberg models will be the last of the blue models coming from Austria. Inventory is already low and these models are sure to sell out as soon as news of this merger gets spread.
