I wish they would directly address which models will be staying and which will be going, and I'm emphasizing here on the tr650's.

I would love a Nuda! Too bad we never got it here.

As for the 2014's, we do know that there will be a 2014 TR650. From what I'm tracking, there are no more 2013's inbound to the US, as the last batch was caught in customs due to a BMW/KTM MSO issue. These types of things are not uncommon. A few dealers have confirmed that those units have been sent back and will be reissued as 2014's for the fall rollout.

However, we don't know how many there will be then, or what will happen after that. Frankly, as long as the brand stays around, I'm not too concerned over whether the TR650 stays in the lineup. Yes, it is an awesome bike. Yes, I think it is a very promising platform. But I've got mine already.

Don't forget that every year the TR650 stays in production means another year of parts availability down the road which also helps with resale.

If I read the press releases and understand them. I believe the TR 650 would be the only Italian made husky. The rest will be remodeled and tooling and production happens in Austria. I have a Strada and don't hold much hope for a continuation. BMW will build another something like the TR. Will SP go there?

I honestly think something along the lines of the TR650 will continue. It won't be the exact same, but they will have something in their lineup. KTM doesn't have anything in their existing lineup that really competes with the TR650. Sure, you can try to convince yourself that the KTM 690 Enduro R is a competitor to the TR650, but they are really two distinctly different motorcycles.

Someone on ADV mentioned the possiblity of a TR type motorcycle built on the Bajaj 390 engine. If something with TR type ergos, 75lbs lighter, and with a 44hp 390 engine were to hit the market, I'd probably kick someone's ass to be first in line to buy it.

I wouldn't get to excited Donkey. The 390 engine is getting most of its power on the upper end of the rpm scale. Your TR is wide on the power band. Smaller and lighter, not always better.

Oh, not for me. I have a tiny wife who likes to ride. Her current options for dual-sports are the XT250, which does great on the trail, but not on the road; or the DR650, which require lowering links for her to saddle, and a friend to help her pick it up. Something on that 390 platform might be the ticket.

Sorry I wasn't thinking about Mrs Donkey. Thats great. Ex. Mrs Penton asked to get rid of my motorcycles after a year of marriage.
I sold the race bike first, hardest thing first, then the others. 2 years after that I had 3 more. I have had the Suzuki now longer than my ex. I Usually have 2. The Strada was the new addition. I am loving it. As for off road. Mt. biking 3 plus times a week. Plans to move to CA and keep the place in the islands, Maybe then a 310r or 125 kitted to 144.

Yeah, I'm a lucky man. Or, it could be that I just had an awesome pre-screening process when I was dating. :D

We seem to do everything in pairs. We have two 60's Triumphs, two hacks, and working on two dual-sports now that the cafe racers are gone. One of these days we're going to have kids and we'll have to learn to be responsible adults and probably thin the herd. Wait, who am I kidding? I can get a PW50 with training wheels!

Hey give me your thoughts on this. I am riding the Strada with my street helmets. Was thinking to buy a off road helmet and goggles because the helmet is lighter and more open air flow. I was worried that the peak would be a wind catcher and road noise at speed.
Haven't had an off road helmet in over 15 years. Maybe there better?

I rode with full faced conventional helmets for maaaaaany years. I recently bought a DS helmet which is basically the same shape as a MX helmet but has a shield instead of the need for goggles. I walked out of the store and went for a 320 mile ride to the coast averaging ~70mph...and I thought for sure that thing was made to rip heads off!

My wife in the same boat. Too short for any proper adv bikes, but she fits ok on a lowered F650GS, but even that is a bit of a handful for her once she needs to slow down. I'm kicking myself I took so long to find a bike like the Terra.

Why so? Your riding has evolved over time to where you are now, and the Terra fit the bill. I'd been looking at replacing the XT600 with a DR650 for a couple of years now, but it would have been one work horse to replace the other. The Terra for me is a whole new ball game. So much better on the road than the XT, but no too shabby off road for the light duty stuff. Now thinking of ditching the XT all together and getting a WR250 or DRZ250/400 etc for the rougher stuff.

Would Jo fit on a lowered Strada, like Jughead?

Maybe something even more suitable will show up in the not to distant future, Husky or otherwise

I've got mine 2  . But I talked to the B.M.W. dealer a couple of days ago and he said the tr650 will still be made but it's going to be made at a different factory and not in Italy. The motor should be different also .
