I ran a rear 09 dakar on my strada. 11k then changed it to a Shinko 804.
Mitas was a great tyre always hooked up and very predictable.
I've done 300 on the 804 but I loose the rear often on dry tar.

Looking like the Mitas 07 for the rear tyre & the 09 (Dakar) or Kenda big block for the front

    Comments please ??

Got 6500 miles out of the Metzeler Saharas, just put new Mitas 07's on the front and rear, winter has arrived in Maine so my riding and comments on this tire are forthcoming.

My Tourance EXP will be changed to Tourance NEXT. Better grip and better milage. Very good tyre for the roads.

Sadly Shinko don't do a 140x80 by 21, there closest doesn't have the load rating

Any comments on the Kenda K270s front & rear combination? I see they do a 6ply which in theory should carry greater load or give better life?

Hehh?? You wanna run a 21 at the rear???
(or a truck tyre in the front?)

Had the Kenda 270 on the KLR rear after the Kenda 761 was cut to shreds by a rock on a US-WestCoast trip. Couldn't get anything else off-road-ish in a tiny town (Eastacada ?) near Mt. Hood/ Oregon. What a piece of junk. Good on the loose stuff, shit-your-pants on pavement. The outer row of knobs are waaayyy too soft and just fold over when loaded up during cornering. "Unsettling" is putting it mildly. Never, ever again....except on a little CT110 or so...
Rode it for ~2500k's (didn't have a choice, really) by which time they were just about shot, replaced for the 2. trip the following year with another Kenda 761 (which is GREAT!....for the $$, anyway).

Then again..if you ONLY play dirty, it might be just the ticket.

    Sadly Mr Glitch they don't make a 140/80 x 18
However I do appreciate your tyre expertise

I've just purchased a Mefo Explorer 99 for the rear, 140/80 x 18 - tread pattern is very similar to K60, however casing sides seem much stiffer than K60
Also, looked at Mefo 90/90 x 21 front
    Any comments?

    Yup....
Where did you find those (the Mefo's), they seem to be very illusive down here.:(
I also found the sidewalls to be NOT as stiff as the Heidenau (nor the carcass as solid and thick/ heavy)... the front Mefo99 barely has 2/3 of the weight of the K60. One of the main.the reasons I prefer the Mefo's over the K60.

Adventuremoto in Dural have a couple of rears still in stock
Mine's the 140/80 x 18, certainly feels stiffer than the K60 I fitted last year
I was not impressed with the Mefo99 front, seemed quite soft & knobs small (I could imagine on a 250, but not on anything heavier)
So, still researching for a front to match
My intended round trip approx 10,000klms
I like the Big Block, but question longevity
I'd prefer something more aggressive than the K60 or 07 & stiffer than TKC80
Which leads me to the E09 or E10 or even returning to the Karoo 3
