OK thanks. I did locate the site earlier and have emailed them about the product asking if they have sorted out the light to bracket issue.
I will be working on this very issue this weekend. I will take pictures as I progress. I have a really good idea in my head just need to get it out
avoid the TR650 rear fender problem: http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=850525&page=18 simple idea from 4-s-hsky: http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=850525&page=103 or this from Hafte: or use SW-motech EVO Side Carrier adapter Kit. http://shop.sw-motech.com/cgi-bin/c...wrub--brands.husqvarna.tr650t&typid=131933495
Yes, I just had to order one because Husqvarna was taking ages to send the OEM tail. They're hard to find that will ship to the US, but they're out there. I ended up paying like 210 for shipping tax, etc. They are NOT cheap, and from what I hear it's barely worth it, but I'd rather have a bike I can ride than one Husqvarna doesnt' feel very inclined to send parts for...
This KTM plastic license plate mount went right on the Strada's fender. It is very light. http://www.ktmworld.com/license-plate-holder.html
I put it in the stock position. With the OEM panniers, there is a support bar that should keep the fender from wagging too much. BUT the KTM license plate holder is only plastic and is very light. It also comes with nice hex head bolts and lock nuts.
Old thread, but I'm late to this party... for those without pannier racks, have you found that any of your mods aren't working? I've already got a version of that KTM bracket mounted, but the fender seems to hang so far out, I feel like I need to do something about it. Just not sure what. I can totally see ripping it off when falling, or riding where I shouldn't. I don't have the skills/tools/time to fab anything, so whatever I do will be a rig-job from whatever I can find at Lowes or HD.
But you made it to the party! Not sure what the KTM bracket is. Does yours have a metal plate that holds the license plate? If so, ditch it, and call Bill's for a plastic holder, I think it mounts up higher, but not sure. I have been on some pretty bumpy gravel roads, and my fender is still doing ok (knock on wood)
I have the Nomadic rear rack en route as we speak. The KTM thing was mentioned earlier in this thread... it's just a plastic license plate holder (I had one left over from another bike). I ditched the metal plate on day one. Edit - I decided, for now, I'm going to install support braces from the turn signal mount to the exhaust mounts (it's about 12"). And, I'm going to hack off a few inches of the fender.
Thanks to William Clark for the pic. I like his method of fix for the problem, except it's connected to the stock rear rack. With the Nomadic rack shouldn't have any problems. The aluminum plate cut to fit inside the fender, and the turn signal to exhaust mounts are good ideas as well
With 10000km the Husky has been nice, but this fender hasn´t been resistent enough. After 8000km between bad Ecuadorian and Peruvian roads, the motech part for the panniers -shown on the image post by Balitarolo- has probably weaken it! Any suggestions to find the spare? Finally what i did is what Clete has shown above, nontheless i'd like to buy a new one! I'd love to have info!
Try one of the big dealers like Bill's or Hall's, could get lucky and one of them have it in stock. Bryon/Bill's is usually pretty good following up on emails bmp@teleport.com
