I actually ordered them specifically for this bike, but they came in after I left. I'm still in asscrackistan, so I'm going to have to get my wife to try throwing it on a piece of tubing at the house and see how it works. I really like the concept of a quick-detach for my daily commute. My normal morning payload is a couple of uniforms, boots, toilletries, and lunch. That fills up two panniers pretty quickly, so being able to snatch them off the racks and carry them to my office quickly is a HUGE plus.

Before I ordered, I checked with Ortlieb to see what it would mate up to. They said it comes with inserts specifically for 8mm and 10mm (bicycle) and 16mm (motorcycle) racks. The 16mm correlates to 5/8", which is standard for most manufacturers. I thought the BRmoto racks looked a little beefier, which is why I asked before ordering.

Thank you. I guess I'll I'll have to go and enter them directly into WordPress. I guess no good deed goes unpunished.

In the meantime, I emailed Happy Trail for an update on their racks. I'm anxiously awaiting a response and will share it when I get it. They initially said early summer, and June starts this week. Let's hope for some good news.

I wasn't sure what thread to put this in, but it relates to luggage. I run the Giant Loop Cyote on my DRZ and will be using it on my Terra too. I wasn't about to pay $25 a pop for two heat shields - so I made my own! I'm in the HVAC industry so I wandered out to the Fab shop and started sniffing around. I found some scrap stainless steel and cut it to size. Then I ran through the roller and used the brake to do two 1/2" inward 90' bends. Cut slots for hose clamps and Bam! They even match the stock cans! I'm pretty happy with this setup - and will be testing it on a 3 day ride this weekend. Cheers,

Anyone happen to have the Wolfman "The Hoops"? I'm thinking since I've got the racks and the big bags on the way that these would be good to leave on when I'm commuting and just out riding. Tools, rain gear, that type of stuff. Then hopefully I can rig up a nice way to secure them to other gear on longer trips. Thoughts/experiences?

I don't have them, but was really excited about them until I read that you can't use them at the same time as panniers. They lost a lot of their appeal with that limitation. I initially thought they would live inside the hoop entirely, but I guess they wouldn't have much capacity. But I stare at the pictures and wonder about putting them on backwards? Anyway, if anyone is using them AND panniers at the same time I'd be interested in hearing about it.

My BR Moto racks http://brmoto.com/racks/side-racks/br-moto-side-racks-husky-tr-650-terra-strada.html shipped today:banana:. Was going to hold out for the Happy Trail racks, but got tired of waiting since I have a 6 day off the road camping trip to southwestern Oregon/Idaho/Nevada coming up. I really like the idea to be able to mount either Wolfman dry bags or hard luggage on the BR Moto's depending where I'm headed.

Berg is a great guy to deal with, returned my phone calls almost immediately to answer my stupid questions. Will document and post mounting of the racks.
