Thanks for the heads up. I just ordered a set of the BRMoto racks from Berg. If you're ordering from Oz (as mentioned elsewhere on this site) ask for a postage quote because the shipping calculator quotes about $250 for shipping. I was charged $90 to ship to Melbourne via USPS which is very reasonable I reckon.
Pretty sure I am going to go with the TCI outback racks, but I don't know between the pelican 1520 or 1550 side cases. Has anyone mounted the 1550's on a TR650. I found a place that sells the 1550 in yellow with dividers for $99...
Here's my setup for now. I will keep the Wolfman Explorer Lite tankbag but don't know how much I'll use the Trax boxes. They are off my Stelvio so I tossed them on to see how they look. My plan is to get some soft luggage and make a mounting plate for them to go with the SW-Motech racks. The tail rack is the one from Nordic Cycles.
Mounted these racks tonight... really impressed with the fit and how stout they are. And, they fit fine with the Nomad rear rack (I used some Nomad spacers and bolts for a better fit). It's rare when I can get 2 different aftermarket products to bolt together without any mods... that was a nice surprise.
I just fitted a Nomadic top rack onto the TR, on top of my previously fitted Andy's pannier side frames. All fit together beautifully, it's a good solid looking rack.
I just got me a set of Givi E22N side boxes to go with the Givi Blade Topbox which I have had since I go the bike 6 months ago. The Givi bracket for the TR650 is not available here and I could not find one on any websites either, even though the literature that came with the E22Ns clearly shows the luggage rack on a TR650, so I set about having custom racks made. First of all the squares were made to fit the boxes, including a copy of the Givi locking system, then the long bars tie the squares to the frame on the upper part of the rear footpeg mount. Simple bushes made up to fit in the existing rack fixings, with extended bolts form the front top supports. The rear of the squares is fixed and supported on the strongest point where the exhausts are mounted. Out for a test run before going for powder coating, fully loaded the set up feels good and LED lights have been added into the outer edges of the side boxes to show the extra width of the bike at night. More to come.......
Aware of the issues with the flimsy plastic OEM top rack, my intention was to continue with the construction and build a replacement for it which would tie in with the new side racks. Mine hasn't suffered any issues like some here, but I am always careful with the amount of weight I put into the top box. Returning from the test run I decided against the new top rack and instead made some additions to the side racks to add extra support. The whole job has been powder coated and the Givi side boxes fit a treat, they are easily removed just like the manufacturers rack - but IMHO a lot better.
nice and clean solution! For those that prefer a ready-made solution, SW Motech has an adapter kit to fit Givi boxes to their Quick-lock evo racks for the TR. I don't think Givi ever actually sold their own racks for the TR.
Correct, and that is obviously the reason that I cannot find them anywhere, however in the Fitting Instructions of the Givi Boxes there is this literature. Spot the bike !! Givi clearly show a side rack to fit a TR650, although as far as I am aware they do not make one. Strange ??
MoskoMoto Back Country 35's on BR Moto racks. These bags are just a step above anything I have used on a bike so far. Design and built are incredible.
Husqvarna sold a factory accessory rack for a short time when the TR first came out. The rack was made by Husqvarna, and the cases were rebadged Givi Trekkers. http://www.cafehusky.com/threads/husqvarna-bags-are-here-for-tr-models.33952/
This is top notch kit .....The guy is not far from me on down HWY 14. I wish I had a bike that did not have bags yet....HMmmmmm how could I change that...anyway very very nice stuff from Moskomoto
Received my Givi WP405 saddle bags yesterday. Fit well on my BR moto panier racks. Yet to try them out but hoping they are durable and stand up to the claim of being waterproof.
