I just changed the oil yesterday.....I put 750cc and that's just above the 1/2 mark on the sight glass. So the exact is probably more like 725cc.

I run Walmart ATF Type F. I didn't have enough on one oil change so I used Rotella T since I had some in the garage. It had more clutch drag and I hit a lot of false neutrals. Went back to ATF and it works great.

Rotella white jug (15w-40) here too. We have 6 dirt bikes and they all run with it. Two of them have the Rekluse EXP's and no problems with any of them to date. It's cheap so we change them often.

Whats the difference between 10w40 transmission oil and 4stroke 10w40 engine oil (ie Mobil 1)?

Since this old thread started I've switched to using Rotella 15w40. It's the equivalent of 50w gear oil. Pretty much any motor oil that is JASO rated will work with a wet clutch in a 2t. I looked up the ATF +4 and the gear oil rating was only about 25w so I thought it better to go to something a little heavier.

Am I going to hurt anything using a 4stroke synthetic like Mobil1?

No, as long as you do not use the Mobil1 0w50 Racing or the 0w30 Racing. Those two Mobil1 oils are off limits for use in motorcycles. Check the specs of Mobil1 against Motorex, you will find that they are identical. This is because Motorex often purchases it's base stocks from Exxon.

p.s. buy your Mobil1 @ walmart so it doesn't hurt your wallet...;)

Base oil is base oil, regardless of source. Motorex is not Mobil1 repackaged. I work with the Motorex USA guys.

Just drained mine into the measuring jug I use for my gear oil after makeing sure the oil was smack on dead center of the sight glass and exactly 700cc cam out!
Refilled with 800cc and its over the sight glass nearly all bar a mill !!!
Think my jug is due for calibration

Mine has a small screw - no sight glass. Did you check it with a warm motor? There will always be some oil left around the place so 800 mil is from new/ dry I guess
