Field Day.......and I really thought Oh OK we are going to get a break from these DIs yelling and throwing stuff and have picnic......
My son's buddy is a genius. He pours bleach in big puddles in the corner and waits for the Sgt. with his gas mask on. Needless to say Sgt don't stay long.
I am stopping at the GH gate today on the way to ZipTy HQ to pick up my weekend special "credential" ........ (when in Rome....use your best connection to get credentials to gain best access to team hospitality tent.). MXGP, not quite as resplendent as the FIM World Superbike hospitality we've experienced in the past but a great place to chill out with a cool beverage and snack.
wicked baddass weekend..considering I had no plan to attend, hung with temec for bit but was side tracked by other stuff. will try to figure out fotos
In the Factory Pits as a guest of the Redmoto Assomotor Honda Racing Squad. 1) Pilot 77 Alessandro Lupino Mech/Tech Diego and Michele's Back 2) Pilot 400 Kei Yamamoto and Mech/Tech Michele
I have almost 150 photos........many are MXGP Tech shots. should we have another thread for the Glen Helen MXGP Robertaccio/Temecoastie experience??
yeah, a separate thread sounds good. I'd like to see some pics. sounds like a dominate win for Eli- that oughta boost his confidence quite a bit. If he can get his starts more consistent he could become the entire package. good ride for Jeremy too, on the new bike. Whadja hear about attendance? looked like about 10,000 to me... but then again, the tv cameras are kinda avoiding the empty spaces. how do you & coastie rate the experience?
For my experience---it could not get better and if I drop names, which I will.... for our sports hobby nothing to beat it. I discussed track sections with Chuck Sun, hung out and talked trail rides we have shared with Danny and Don from FMF, got more info from discussions with Andy Jefferson about the all new 2 strokes, stood in the pits with the RedMoto Honda team next all the other teams and world class riders, had lunch in the Monster energy team hospitality rig , hung out with my dear friends Luca and Camilla (Luca former trophy team champ), hung out with all the RedMoto guys riders and Mechs. Hung out for a bit with Temec his nephew Cam and his son Dan, Introed the Temec clan to Lupino. Helped Pete Motoman set up his SWM booth for his display of the 300RS and 500RS along with his private label tires, had Barry from storage wars stop by and chat along with some other legends of Baja (Wallingsford for one) and MX. walked into the ProCircuit hospitality with PC folks wearing the Scalvini Scarichi Italia shirt Pete gave me and got a full hard stare from the boss.
I suppose that's better than wearing one of Donnie's shirts. Chuck Sun- cool. I remember him when he rode for Husky (same year as Lackey?? '75?)
The TLD Kids didn't dominate like last season but still put on a good show - especially the new kid, Justin Hoeft. First pro race and pulls an 11th OA against the best in the world.
Our group of 4 went Sunday and even though we didn't get the VIP perks like Robert it was an epic day. We went the Joe Sixpack route; general admission tickets, brought folding chairs and an ice chest with home made sandwiches and drinks and set up camp at the bottom of the Mount St. Helens downhill where we could see about 80% of the track. We were hanging over the fence getting mud roosted facials and hooting and hollering like a pack of loons. The youngest member of our group is 48 and the oldest is 72 with a 60 and 61 year old thrown in the middle. We carried on like teenagers and loved every minute of it. As for the racing, it was great!! Tomac was on a mission and looked like he did last year in the Nationals before he got hurt. Cairoli looked the part of an 8 time World Champion and at 31 years old showed the youngsters how it's done. In the small bikes Herlings proved why his bike wears the red #1 plate and was in a class of his own. Total domination. JMart looked very strong on his new red ride and Forkner was unbelievable for a kid that has only had a drivers license for about a year or so. Even though the crowd was small it looked like there were perhaps 1000 to 2000 more spectators than last year, maybe 5000 to 6000 total. At least there was never a line if you had to visit the porta-can...
