It is. Seems to be a good one too. Spoke to several racers from europe that have countless miles hammering them with zero issues. Holds almost 2 quarts of oil (2x what most bike carry these days), comes stock with a nice SS oil filter, has roller rockers and a counterbalancer. Makes surprising power and is very easy to use. Really liking that little motor.

So far what I've seen they look like they will work very well where you ride.
From the vid only problem I see you having will be in the future.
That being the trails are getting worn in from you riding so much, soon they will be 13" deep and foot pegs will drag.

The fact is that these bikes are built and engineered to be more cost effective top of the trail bike class machines----TTR Yamaha model, Honda Air cooled CRF models, all trail bikes.
I for one completely get it, to compare AJP motos to a CRF-X or WR (whatever the street legal version is) is about as far into the class as you can go legitimately and that's pushing the AJP models into a higher price range line of class models.
Any of Kellys comparos to "real" race type offroad bikes is strictly for reference.
I need to add this Ive seen so many "trail punters" on high end offroad race bikes that they think they need to ride better (CRFX, WRs,EXCs etc etc), that I would bet money would ride faster, enjoy the day more and with less stress and fatigue on one of these AJP trail bikes.
My local DS/offroad adventure trail rider community constantly has the why buy a 250 when you can get a 650 for the same price logic.....and Ive been on rides with these guys dragging the 450s, 530s(for example) up stuff and falling over all day on their enduro race bikes that I guarantee would raise their game at all levels on one of these Little AJP trail bikes. my tuppence

This entire model line of AJPs class is the have a fun day trail bike class in the 5k price point range.
Perhaps Motosportz should do a chart/XL type thing comparo for the 5k price range available trail bikes here in the US. PR3 PR4 PR4 TTR125,TTR225(?),CRF whatever it is? etc etc , hint, not apples and oranges same class same price point camparison

Yes it is with a two (2) year warranty. From all the reports I've read they seem to be very good tough engines.

The PR4 is way better than a CRF230 or the like. No comparison. Fully adjustable suspension and very well setup as delivered. Super slim and light feeling (tank under the seat helps the feel a lot). Real brakes with disks at both ends, Real components and no steel bars and crap like that. It is MUCH higher spec that those type of bikes. Also has a great motor with lots of torque that runs perfect.

The PR5 has zero excuses to make and hangs with most any bike just fine. Motor is EZ to use and willing, suspension is crazy good stock as is the handling. I'd rather ride this than MANY bikes. I feel I give up nearly nothing to 8-10K bikes at all. Only time I feel even slightly outgunned is on really long open loose uphills. Even then I can keep it right there. I ride with a buddy with a KTM350 a lot. We have done probably 3 rides now where I was on the PR5. He stated last ride that he thinks I am faster on the PR5 than any of my bikes. I sure don't feel slower and the ease at which I can tackle the crap is amazing. the super slim and light feel, great suspension and handling and EZ to use motor just make the trail fly by. I'm really enjoying the bike.

the vid smashes the elevation but this is an uphill. What you don't see is it is stinking SLICK clay with lots of polished rocks and roots to toss you on the ground. No one is racing here but the PR5 really flows over this type of train and you don't have to worry about the rear spinning all the time.

Here is another one. The PR5 with a trials tire is ridiculous. This vid looks flat as well but it certainly is not. Also VERY slick and covered in embedded rock and roots. The PR5 rules on this stuff with its traction control like motor. I rode back down and found a pile of KTMs scattered all over that hill. Rode tot he bottom and cleaned it even better the next time for fun while waiting.

This is this last sunday riding the little PR4 with my buddy on the KTM350. On these types of trials the PR4 is really hard to beat and feels like a MTN bike. On tight trails like this that are semi flat or down hill you can loose the bigger bikes pretty easy.

They are building trail here like crazy!!! Yes you read that right. New trails everywhere. We also got a new top dog at the Forestry who is a top racer and it will only get even better. Blessed.

if you care to look at the trail map... http://www.oregon.gov/ODF/tillamookstateforest/docs/TSFOHV09.pdf

this is about 1/4th of the mapped trail up there and there is also tons of unmapped trail. Hundreds of miles of trail all over. I find new stuff almost every time I ride.

lower HP easy torque machines= faster times better traction in super slick stuff, lower tech can bring = to higher tech machines...
remember the old road race stories when the track is wet the privateer teams on 2 year old GP bikes can even beat the factory bikes

Yep. That said the PR5 is not lower tech at all. The nitrate coated forks with external preload is far from low tech and works amazing. The rest of the bike is on par with most anything. The motor might only make 27hp but it is very willing and does just fine. you actually use the throttle for going forward instead of trying to tame it, I like that.

Love the new "oh crap i'm going to hit the fence" avatar.

I really dont doubt I'd be faster in my races on a pr5. Its funny because i never threw dirt wheels and raced my wr250x because i thought I'd be at a big disadvantage. The pr5 is the right bike for a lot of b/c riders. Just need to convince them. Ideally i would have one of those and a big bike that wants to hurt me :)

Okay- so they are using the same engine as the GasGas Cami and the Chinese Crossfire/X Motos Bikes.

A friend runs an Chinese X-Motos 250 4Stroke- maybe not the most powerful engine- but so far its very reliable and its been rider friendly.

I also think its better take an smaller capacity engine- in terms of my fitness and fun its always been the right move

How would you compare the pr4 to, say the most recent xr 250? Different enough to matter?

Totally different. The PR4 is much slimmer and flickable as well as being smaller overall. I looked up the power on the XR250 and it looks like it has a HP or 2 on the PR4 and about 5-6 less than the PR5 (250). Suspension and handling is much better on the AJP IMHO. Lets hook up for a demo ride.

Where's the wheelies? We want to see the Motosportz wheelies!

    27hp isn't bad, about as much hp as a stock 2011 te449.
