Hello. I am currently Husky-less, thinking about a WR300, but I also like the 510, and the new 630 ... and it would be great to pick up an older 390! I have owned 5-6 Huskys in the past, the latest was an 06 SM610.

Actually, the one I miss the most was a 1994 610 that I had made street legal, what a blast that bike was!

Looking for to learning and hopefully contributing.

Hi everybody! I started riding motocross bikes after I turned 50 - don't know why I waited so long! :smirk:

I'm thinking about doing some vintage races with a buddy of mine. He rides an '81 YZ465. I'm looking at an '84 500CR that has been converted to the six speed transmission - hopefully I can give him a run for his money on this thing! :notworthy:

    Hello all,
Like most, surfed into this site, as I contemplated a new motorcycle. Wanted to go dual sport and have the magic button. I wanted to give my inherited 1981 430WR an opportunity to be restored without being down a bike. So after much head scratching :banghead: and price shopping I ordered a "new 2009" TE450. Should arrive in the next week or so. Lots of good info here,
    Thanks for the opportunity.

    Yo

Joined in the hopes of getting some good information to get an older husky re-stored/running.

Have two 82' WR430 sitting in the garage with basically enough parts to get one bike restored.

So far it looks like a great forum,

81 cr 430 race set up.

hello men, my name is johnny and i live in woodland wa, i have picked up an 1981 cr430 very clean bike , i will race vintage with this bike, twin shock, however coming from an 83 maico 490 i am new to huskys ....the husky felt like a glove, but i will need your help , advice , and support, ok lets get down to it , i have rebuilt the ohlins and went with stiffer springs , as i am 240 lbs, at 6'2'', same with forks , when i go to husqvarna- parts .com ???? out of arizona phil sells a set of ohlins that are about 1500.00 but says can be dyno for me they are a honda shock that crosses over and with my maico i had shock piggy backed , and could take a lap and click and tune , damp, and rebound rate exc, this pair of shock will allow me to do the same???? and for front end gold valve emmulators , as i 48 this year and want my suspension to be as good as it can be ...without waisting money, your thoughts on this will help, then brakes i went to double leading shoe 83, 84 front hub, what type of shoes should i be looking at ?????and lastly is the mossbarger reed set up any better than the stock set up?, thanks for your input, johnny.

    New here...

    Hello Everyone:

new to this forum, but been 'lurking' for awhile. Glad to be on here - looks like there is a ton of good info. I'm presently on the hunt for a 08+ TE510 as I really want a fuel injected factory plated dual-sport here in California:thumbsup:

Been on ADVRider almost since it's inception, and have done lot's of off-road miles with the big twin touring enduros but I feel I reached their limits off-road some time ago. Now it's time for something light to add to the stable:applause:

Looking forward to plugging into this 'brain-trust' here. I've developed 'analysis-paralysis' about the whole 530 vs 510 vs g450X thing for a bit (but for the 'dez' here in SoCal I've finally decided you can't go wrong with the 510).....

Anyhooo, looking forward to riding with some of you.

Welcome aboard! I'm new myself but have found this to be about the most fun and helpful forum that I have been on. For what it's worth, I have ridden both a 530 EXC and a Husky 510 TXC. While the KTM was plated and I rode it on the street mostly I found the vibration objectionable and the handling was good but not really confidence inspiring. The 510 Husky was a total sweetheart! I rode it on a small, mild motocross course and in the woods on a little bit of single track and I was amazed at how flickable it was and how confidence inspiring it was to ride. The engine felt great and when I squeezed it in third gear she had no trouble toting that front wheel! I have long admired the KTMs, but after having spent a little time on each the Husky is a no-brainer for me! Good luck and ride safe!
