Hello, I just got a 2014 TR650 Terra and hope to learn a lot in this forum. I mostly ride road sportbikes but I want to complement it with some off road adventure, it sounds like a lot of fun and from the little riding I have done I can tell that I am going to love it. I must say though that I am surprised (shocked?) by the little support from the brand. Their website doesn't even mention this bike, so forget about downloading a manual (yes, I too got the corrupted USB drive), let alone the workshop manual. in this regard, I found an WSM online but it lacks several sections (as did one that I purchased on ebay). Does anyone know where I can get one? Also, the dealer gave me a single key and told me to order a copy if I want a second one. Is this the way the bike comes (1 key only) or it is just that the dealer lost it and doesn't want to deal with it? Anyway, it doesnt sound like a good start but these are minor issues, the fact is that I love the bike
Hi all, Bought a 2015 FE501S last Friday. Doing my first oil change today and so far its been great. Registered here right away and have been enjoying the reading. Looking forward to being part of the membership here.
Hi all, My name is Paul, live in sunny QLD Australia, 5 mins away form a great national park full of awesome 4X4 and bike trails. Currently have a WR250, great fun bike, goes like a weapon for an old girl. Also an old Suzuki TS185 in the shed slowly undergoing a restoration...I know, not a Suzuki community and not exactly a desirable bike but it is the earliest bike I have memories of my Dad owning so it has a special set of memories and was the first bike to light that spark of motorcycle love. Bike history: Peewee 50 Honda CT90 Kawasaki KV100 Honda CT125 Honda XL250 Suzuki RM125 Yamaha YZ250 Honda XR250 Kawasaki CPZ250 Suzuki GS250 Suzuki DRZ400 KTM 525 EXC Honda CRF250R Suzuki GSX750 Took a break from riding for a bit but the passion wouldn't go away so I'm back, wife and kid are also pretty keen to get onto the trails. Toying with the idea of picking up a TE449 as it seems like a good choice at the moment and would love some advice on this. On recovery from a knee reconstruction so would love to get approved so my posts aren't all awaiting moderation before being visible. Stuck on the couch as a keyboard warrior, heard that posting in this forum was the best way to get approved. Take care all
You got hosed on the key, I'd say. I got 2 keys for each of the 2 I bought from my dealer. Unfortunately, dealer support is a bit ordinary, as KTM bought Husky to ditch these bikes... they were very stiff competition for their over-priced 690 adventure, require much less service at a much lower cost, and do several things much better. Don't hold your breath for a dealer to behave. That said, these are really quite simple machines, built by BMW, so most parts will remain very obtainable. If you don't do your own work just locate a reputable shop. Though my dealer is one of the highest volume Husky dealers in the world, their service dept is your average dishonest, money-grabbing lot not to be trusted or relied on at all. Unless I have a warranty claim before warranty is up, I won't be setting foot in there again. Screwed me over on first break-in service and check... didn't change oil, scrubbed chains clean and didn't lube, etc. Charged for all of that mind you. Wankers. If its beyond what I can or want to do, I'll take it to another outfit who's service dept has treated me well and has a solid reputation in the motorcycle world here in Brissy. Don't let the dealer's poor behaviour sour you to an awesome machine. Be glad you shouldn't need to see him because of the quality of the bike.
Just found out about this Forum! Super pumped to share/review others info, Im currently Racing both Desert and moto on my 2014 TC250! Bone stock! other then graphics, Bars, and a JD jet kit.
OOps! I should have introduced myself first before posting. I am Mike from Albuquerque. I have ridden dirt and street since about 1968. I raced motocross and desert back in the late 60's into the early 80's. Have owned Yammies, Bultaco, Maico, Can-Am, Montessa. Never owned a Husky but always wanted one. So when I had the opportunity to pick one up for restoration I made and offer and trailered it home. It's a 73 CR 450 and I am finding this year model difficult to find parts for as it was made only two years and not a very popular bike. Now I see a 73 WR360 for sale and I may have to look at that to! The Husky bug has struck. About 8 years ago I got the restoration bug and have focused on restoration of the 79-80 Honda CBX. I current have restored three and have a few more to go but my girl wants to learn motorcycle mechanics so I thought the Husky would serve as a good learning platform for her and I get a restored bike. I need a break from the Honda's as well. It's tedious work restoring those old street bikes, hunting parts, manufacturing parts and trying to compete for parts against a worldwide bidding market. I have been pouring over the vintage left kickers here at Café Husky and am learning a great deal about the vintage Husky's. Looking forward to picking the collective brain here as I move through this restoration. Café Husky is a great site and I have found it easy to navigate, only one other site I belong to competes with simplicity and focus and that would be the CBX ICOA site. Mike
Hello from northern Ohio. Would like to thank all in advance for sharing your knowledge/experience with the rest of us. I'm new to forums in general (this is the 1st I've joined) and MX/enduro. I recently purchased a 1986 WR400 as a project, will be looking for info and guidance on a few questions but will save that for the vintage left kickers section!
hi cove45 welcome to the forum you have come to right place we are here to help so bring it and like justin said don't forget the pixs cuz some time we forget to take are meds 86 400 WR ya know Ks got one of those its nice
I'll be home tomorrow so I'll try my first attempt at posting pics. Wanted to get a picture of it in my truck before unloading, was shoveling the snow in front of the garage door and the neighbors already had it out! Didn't have the heart to tell'm to put it back! Took off the seat, tank, plastics and found a mouse condo in the air cleaner. Removed the carb to check/clean; may be the worst I've seen. Will soak it for awhile and see what I can do with it. First major let down was finding that the swing arm on right side where the mounting bolt goes through was cracked. Thought no big deal I'll have it TIG'ed up. Took the front sprocket cover off to have abetter look and the found the front of the swing arm was broken clean off being held on by the washer!! Would like to know what other swing arms may work when searching ebay if anyone knows.
they can be repaired if only cracked but if replaced will have to be from 85-86 alum swinger. cc size doesnt matter, 87-88 looks like it would work but will not, way different linkage design. if the ebay listing is correct, any alum 85-86 will work...its a common problem when the bearings get dry, its rare for them to crack if the bearings are kept greased and in good shape.
Justintendo thanks for the reply, good to know cc doesn't matter. I will start a thread tomorrow in the vintage left kickers forum with pics hopefully.
Just reviewed this thread, and I'm 99.9% sure that everyone has been approved that have posted to it. I need to go directly into the database, something I really do not like doing, to find the other accounts that need approving.
Hello everyone. Just picked up a 2010 WR250 with Lectron carb & Tubliss inserts. Spent the last ten years riding DR350's & a very heavy XR650L! Feels great to be back on a real dirtbike! Went right thru DMV so I can ride the state forests here in South Jersey. Hope to get out this weekend. Paul
Hey guys, names Devin. I just picked up a 2010 510sm. Been riding it everyday and damn this bike is so much fun. Future mods will be power commander 5 and a dyno run so I can have a custom map. Ill be putting back on the dual exhaust but probably throw another fmf q4 pipe on, and an aftermarket intake. All will be done b4 I get it dynoed.
Hello, my name is Gary... I am a Huskyaholic. I am aware that there is no cure for my affliction. I am OK with that.
