Welcome to Cafe Husky. Sorry to hear about your bike getting ripped. Lots of good reading on here or you might want to use the search key at the top for something specific.
Welcome fencelizard... Interesting name??? I had a 07 DRZ400 for awhile no comparison to the TE family that's for sure...
KT where do you ride in NC. I am coming up to Morganton this weekend to ride with some friends from Cary. I also have a cabin in Murphy but haven't ridden any of the dirt roads up there. do you know of any good riding around Murphy?
Hi all husky nuts. I'm Jay from WA in Australia. This look like a great site, thanks to the founder (Coffee i believe?) and all the contributors. I recently purchased 08 TE510. Only had 2 rides but already growing to love the bike. Previously owned about 30 dirtbikes ranging from a Gemini 50 rock hopper to Honda Varadero XL1000 (ok thats hardly a dirtbike) and everything in between. Previous Euro bikes have been 89 Husky WR240 (exc bike) 92 Husky WR250 (exc bike) 97 Husky TE610 (handled like a dog on lino) 98 KTM620 SC (brilliant bike) 02 Husaberg FE501 (best dirt bike i ever had) 04 Husaberg FE550 (worst dirtbike i ever had) I'm also about to travel from the West to the East coast of Australia with a few mates on Yamaha Tenere's across the deserts and when i get back hope to do some enduro's/pony express races and a few natrual terrain motorcross meetings on the 510. Cheers
Welcome jaybz. TE510 eh? I love mine. If you take any pictures of your little trip. Make sure you post them up here so we all can see.
Introduction Cafe Husky, I have a 1981 250 WR that I am the second owner of. I purchased the bike in 1984. I was very excited to find Cafe Husky as a resource to help me learn more about it and to find the network of Husky enthusiasts. I am preparing for a ride this July in Colorado, and look forward to posting some of my questions and tapping into the vast knowledge of Husky owner's on this site. Regards, Steve (Luckypuck77)
Guess I should buy a Husky eh? Ok, I don't have a Husky yet but since I see them on every ride lately I figured I would swing by and see what you all were up to. I'm thinking about picking up a WR125 once the factory gets the parts issues sorted out but for now I ride a CR500, a gas gas trials bike, or JMetteer/Motosportz Huskys whenever I can talk them into letting me ride their bikes If I seem to have a bit of 125 fever blame Kelly, I was all about the big bore two strokes until I rode his 125, then Tasky's Demo Day confirmed that I really like light, flickable bikes. -Shane (crashing_sux over at ThumperTalk)
Shane...come to the Dark Side! It was nice meeting you at Tasky's Demo Day and look forward to riding with you on a Husky! David
Allow myself to introduce, myself. Hey all! I just picked up my new '08 TE450 --my first Husqvarna, not counting lawnmowers. It was a while coming, shopped around, got great advice, particularly from some members here who chimed in on advrider and pointed me to this board, bought it from an out of state dealer, shipped to my local suspension guru, had him work his magic to set it up for someone my size (5'9", 135#, ie not exactly the size the bike is built for...), and voila, picked her up today! We've been having very wet weather, so the asphalt is less than thrilling, but the dirt is stellar. Day 1: Venture to suspension shop, load into a tail bag all kinds of goodies the suspension guys pulled off the bike for me. Got her home to puzzle 1: how do I get this kickstand down...can't hop off her with this big a tail bag, and man are auto-retracts a PITA. A few minutes of feeling dumb and yippee, success! Off to work, day dreaming about the Husky...Got home in time to take her for a local spin--up one of my favorite wide open dirt roads: And up a fun, winding, rough-enough-to-be-interesting dirt road to the Audie Murphy monument: And, mounting up I had my first auto-retract induced dump . Fortunately I broke her fall with my body and had gotten the suspension guys to put on decent brush guards, so no harm no foul... Coming back down the mountain the low fuel light comes on--having not yet had a chance to peruse the manual, wasn't sure I'd make it back to town so came home the long way to seek out the nearest gas station : Yes, I took a picture getting gas. It's like a child's first steps; one must document these things ! Left the gas station, and was virtually attacked by a deer. Fortunately I was too busy playing with the fancy schmancy digital tach to see the deer until it jumped right in front of me, probably slowing my reaction time and causing me not to slam on the brakes or otherwise do something hasty and ill-advised. Did, however, bring out some pucker factor and remind me to focus on the road . Deer, rain, fog, dirt, mayflies, vistas, all up a terrific first 60 miles on the fair lass, and I'm so glad to now, finally, be part of the Husky world!
