@Johnrg - Did see you racing, liked your gear. You looked to me to be a very smooth finesse rider. This track is our Grand Prix track, although we take out the big hill and give you guys closer to 18 miles of better scenery per lap. By the way, that video above serves the hill no justice at all, it is pretty steep and high, although smooth with a short jump at the very top. It was pretty dusty this weekend, it's normally a little wetter during the GP6 in early November.
Thanks Michael... Appreciate the compliment. I felt the same watching the POV when he came around for lap 2. Looked pretty mellow in the video. I was pretty nervous about the hill to be honest.
Jeremy/Huskynoobie actually took out our club treasurer, who got some 28 stitches inside and out of his leg. I saw him walking around later as if nothing had happened, must of been some really good drugs. For a special treat, I loaned Jeremy my factory racing ecu for his race and had him zero out his JD. He wasn't too willing to give it back afterwards though lol. He gave me the thumbs up every time he past me on the course, I loved seeing a 449 out there again. I wanted to thank everyone who participated this past weekend, thank you for coming out and racing and thanks to everyone in the thread! I also give thanks to the Prospectors and Erek Kudla from the NHHA who managed to produce an awesome race weekend.
I can't take all the credit. If it wasn't for this high quality cnc frame here that turned into a noodle as it smashed into his thigh with the force of a looping 300KTM for extra measure, it would've been a scratch at best. I was gonna try to straighten it out, but I think he deserves a souvenir to go with the scar story. When I come by the shop to get a new one, I'll bring it so you can give it to him.
Yeah, I didn't want to rivet it because I want the ability to switch back to the stock plate and signal mounts. The screws were way too long and I just kept forgetting to grab the dremel and cut off the threads. I'm pretty sure Kurt got snagged by one of those screws. Glad he's OK, I actually feel pretty bad he got hurt just trying to be nice and help me get turned around.
BTW, thank you for letting me see what real power is like Michael! I didn't want to let the cat outta the bag on that one. That baby had the secret sauce in it for sure. Took a few minutes to shake off the hill thing and get back to business. I really didn't get an appreciation for it until the climb out of Quail Canyon and hitting Freeman wash. I've been blasting down that since I was a kid and I was going so fast I almost blew a couple of turns I knew were coming. It just flat worked everywhere, no flat spots, stumbles, or hiccups. It was a real treat.
I didn't get to see your video until now. So it was the 199e orange guy who gave you better air box flow. Where did he come from?
Tinken as you have inside info do you have any idea how long it takes to get the name plaque for the trophy's ??
I still can't believe the 199 came up like that with everybody stopped and down blocking the hill. Guess he thought he was in the money class.
IMO corner workers should have been waving yellow prior to the hill. Guy on the lower section was just watching and should have been up with a flag. As it was, I got hit from behind and after bouncing off my leg, he flattened a couple of riders 10 feet in front. I believe both were the DNF Yamaha riders and think I saw the culprit pull out on lap one with a tweaked front end. Been taken out in races in similar situations. We depend on management in these situations even while signing off on personal responsibility for racing/participating. Not to diminish an otherwise well run event, but my 2 cents for post race critique. Big thanks to the Prospectors in any case and to Grumpy for an awesome photo from my first dirt race
Best I can tell he tried to thread the needle off to the left and ran out of momentum. He was parked right next to me and claimed after the race that he was run into by somebody else trying to pass him on the left. The more I look at my video and Dads clip from his phone, I'm thinking he just felt really guilty about screwing up. I ended up dogging him for a couple of miles before I was finally able to pass him after Cow trail dumped into the whoops before we crossed back over to Pronghorn. By the way, have I told you lately how much I love my suspension? I passed a lot of people in that whoop section. I didn't realize it was even him until he mentioned I was breathing on his neck and verified watching my footage. I think I'll piece some sections together in the next day or so and post it up. Gotta show people the power of the right ECU mapping!
NB657 is un-missable I noticed the Purvines Beta crew have PC-Precision Concepts stickies on their boingers this year.(?)
