what's the BEST all around tire?

  1. I'm a huge believer in the MT43 rear, you just can't run more than 9psi. It works as good as a knobby in the mud IMO and performs much better in all other conditions, at least for my riding style. As far as fronts I really like the Motoz tires. I'm done trying knobbies and I've tried many, nothing but trials tires on the rear for me.

My next rear tire is going to be the MT43 as well. A lot of local guys are running them. We have a lot of rocks and rock slabs down here and the 43 is DOT as well.

I have had 3 rides on a MT43 on I do not like it, for where I ride and how I ride.

I really hated it downhill and on off camber hills, I usually make it up the off camber, but with the trials tire the rear keeps sliding down the slope so I am trying to go up sideways.

It did hook up great in dry soft loam.

Just ordered 404 rear with a M59, just to try. Was running Tracula front and rear for about 300 miles worked pretty well.

In the southeast the most popular tires seem to be the Pirelli MT32 (I think it's now known as the MXMS) and the Michelin S-12. I like both. The S-12 is probably better for just one race but it does wear out/cut/chunk quickly.

Where is all this love for Motoz tires coming from on Cafe Husky? I haven't heard people talking about them on other websites and I haven't seen the first one - and I ride at least once a week. :excuseme:

btw, I do like a Trials rear tire for riding in the mountains in hardpack. It's actually good on any hard pack and the tall sidewalls really absorb a good deal more shock. Very noticeable, far more comfortable sailing over big roots. The only place I wouldnt want a trials tire is in a bunch of grass track or in a mud race.

    ARod2000,

Kelly is a dealer and started the revolution. If they didn't work as well as advertised we wouldn't be raving about them. Inexpensive tires that work great and last forever, tough combination to beat.

yep, got about everyone in the NW running them too and almost everyone LOVES them.

never intended to sell tires. Just kind of blew up. I tried them on a recommendation from a friend, liked them. Sold some to friends who loved them. Word got out and now I sell tons of tires. I discount them nicely and make little but does not take much effort ether so it's all good and win/win, we all get great tires for reasonable.

A good product sells itself with some exposure and a good price.

Ah, I see. Motosportz good. Motoz must try. Do tell Kelly, how much? I checked your website and don't see a price. if you shouldn't post the price here then please pm it to me.

btw, I won't be in the market for new tires until race season starts up again in the fall. I have a bunch of half used ones to wear out this summer. But if the price is right I'll give these a try. Thx.

I find the newer Michelin M12 XC works well in mud.. rocks and roots.....though not as good in sand...so lately I have been a MIchelin kinda guy :excuseme:

but Bridgestone 403/404 hard to beat in sand..loam and hard pack..they work good almost everywhere.. the front sticks very well....I have never tried them on roots and rocks though...

They are very reasonable. I have been discounting them some (but the markup is low to begin with) so typically $55 front and $58-$75 rear plus shipping.

why flip the rear backwards? what are the pros/cons? the OEM rimlock is good enough, correct?

MT43 rear trials with 6psi and dual liteloc rimlocks which I love for all the slimey rock, roots and logs here in the NE. I just put one of the Motoz Enduro I/T fronts on but haven't gotten to try it yet. I'm expecting great things with that tire from all I've heard.

Better forward traction all around, no downside really. If you have a cheap plastic rimlock I'd suggest trashing it and getting one with a metal base as they hold the tire much better @ lower psi.Dunno what Husky is using now but that's been my experience.

MT43 tubeless setup here running 6-9 psi depending on conditions, those 3 pounds make a big difference in how the tire handles

if you just flip the tire around after its wore...then your braking is going to suffer....

Yep Motoz and the MX51 are just great tyres. I will not go back to Michies or Maxxis or Pirellis and especially the kenda's again, they are well behind these two. The Bridgy 404 is a good #3. Just try the first 2 on the rear-sensational grip, wear and stability. The Motoz and Bridy fronts are great. I have not had a MX51 front as reports are a bit iffy on it.
