Sure, this grade would work well for you. You should also consider using 0W30 in the Honda 450x as long as it was not the green capped energy conserving bottle.

Walmart price variation on Mobil 1 0w-40 European formula.
Tinken reports lower Walmart prices than here in Washington. Curious, so I went to our other local, east valley, store today. It has the 5 qt. jug at $24.97, compared to Tinken's price at 22.47. Which makes me wonder what sort of algorithms govern price setting for national chains. Especially since our area ranks lower economically than his.
Aren't oil threads great? Name another invoking national pricing algorithms.

No mystery to the pricing. You have more taxes on oil in your area. Probably explains the lower income too?

Popped into a Parts Source and VOILA..FOUND. Changed oil and am wondering if this is as magical as it appears to be?!?!?!?! First off...It's minus 5 C and minus 15 C with WINDCHILL..decided to ride up to a nearby powerwash centre and cleaned err up real nice before swapping out the Motul 10W40 to the Euro spec 0W40. Here's where the apparent magic happened...I have a z-Start pro Rekluse..i started up the gal and just popped out of the garage and did a couple laps up and down the road. Is is my imagination or MAN..the REKLUSE engages instantly with throttle response AND I can engage into neutral WITH the engine running...I am SOLD on this oil The cost was 11 bucks a litre as opposed to the 15 bucks for the Motul and this is now a full Synthetic!! The Synthetic Motul is going for 17 bucks a litre so a wopping savings of 12 bucks an oil change :) Interested to know if other Rekluse riders have noticed this immediate difference??

Great news! I have been sold on the Mobile 1 for a while now and I am adding a Rekluse after Santa stops by next month and I was hoping it would work good for the auto clutch.

I tried the Mobil 1 0W-40 and the bike ran good but the shifting wasn't as smooth (for me) as when I use Motul 10W-40 synthetic.

This is good to hear. I have a 2011 TE310R with a Rekluse Core EXP. I started with Motorex Cross Power 4T 10w60 syn, then went to 10w50. It's time to buy a few more jugs so I'm looking for something comprable to what you guys are doing with the 0w40 syn, but I keep getting weird/conflicting advice from other riders. The most confusing advice was that I should use the NON-synthetic Rotella because I have the Rekluse. Uhh? Any help on why that would be advised?

I get a good price on Motorex so I was thinking of trying the same thing in 5w40. It should be fine for the 310 with the Rekluse, shouldn't it??? I've read several threads on the cafe and I'm still pretty confused.

this is not correct. Some people think because it is synthetic it is super slick and makes the clutch slip. This is not the case. I ran full synth Rotella and mobile one in my 04 TE450 with a early rekluse and thrashed the crap out of it for 4 years. No issues.

I hear a lot of things. But when most factory motorcycle teams use car oil instead of their sponsor's specialized expensive motorcycle oil, it's gotta make you wonder who's shafting who. You can buy that Motul, Motorex, Maxima oil if you want, but it might not be your engine getting the lube job in the end.

Rekluse does recommend using Rotella non syn if your auto clutch chatters. Makes me scratch my head too.:excuseme: Must be to mask sloppy clutch basket problems? Good news is I installed a core EXP in my 310 and it engages perfectly with the 0w40 and no chatter either. Happy with it so far but I haven't flogged it good yet being winter and all. I don't anticipate any oil related problems with it.

I'm on the Mobil 0w40 bandwagon too. There was one lonely 5L bottle at my shop for $95.
Its expensive but still cheaper than buying the synth moto stuff in 1L bottles...

Edit: stocked in Supercheap in QLD, Australia

When you change your oil on a 310 and have the filter cover off, there is a tiny hole just above the filter in the side of the case. That itty-bitty little hole feeds all the oil to the crankshaft, rod bearing, cylinder and transmission. The hose going up only oils the cams and valves, over saturating them too.

The 449/511 has similar holes, 10 times smaller.

I saw with my own eyes the KTM factory team (in the Lafferty days) dumping Rotella Synthetic (the blue bottle) into a Maxima bottle. It was the Saturday night before a national and I was walking my son around the pits getting signatures and we saw the oil deed happening. The mechanic and I locked eyes and he just said "whoops" and then chuckled.

Sorry. I was a little overwhelmed with all the discussions here and where to jump in. Thanks for your patience!

Well, looks like full syn 5w40 Castrol or Motorex since I get them cheap, otherwise I'd be right there at Wallmart with you guys.

I love this forum. I'm surrounded by guys on orange bikes so they're not a lot of help with model specific issues. The info here has been invaluable. I've benefitted from the info here and purchased a number of the sponsors' products over the past year or so. Thanks everyone. :applause:
