Looks like I'm paying $257 full coverage for 2 bikes with Geico. An Aprilia SXV 550 and a TE 250. It's interesting how the rates vary even with the same insurer.

I think that rates have to do with demographics of a particular area. And displacement too. My TE 450 costs about 110 a year for liabilty, while my KLX 300 goes for about 36.00 a year.:excuseme:

    Of course

Dirtdame - that must be because you can wreak so much more havoc on a Husky than a KLX. I knew I wanted one

Since no one else mentioned it, I am now using AAA, or more specifically CSAA - the California version of AAA. $120/y?

It actually lowered the other things I'm insuring with them, house, cars, etc. Overall it was a great decision because we also have some young drivers on the cars and those rates are fantastic.

I have AAA too, but like with most things/people in life I have had a conflict with them. I had a truck, subaru and my bike insured with them.

Looking at it, I was paying like 400 for the truck, 100 for the bike and not using it so I decided to sell the truck.

Well, when I did, AAA didn't count the bike for the multi-vehicle discount, so I lost it, and then the bike became 'full time' transport & my bike rate went way up and I think the difference was like $25 a year less. I shoulda kept the truck!!!

OTOH, I did have a bike (BMW f650) that sort of caught fire and melted its wiring harness in the AAA parking lot. They paid $3300 on a 4k bike with no drama at all.

I pay a couple of hundred bucks per year through State Farm. My agent, though recently retired, could never get Husqvarna right. I think my last insurance card said Huskzrana. The correct VIN was listed so I wasn't too worried.

Once you insure this bike you'll never go back to not insuring one. Knowing that my 7,000+ machine is covered in case of fire and theft is a HUGE deal. I only rarely leave the bike in the back of the truck and if I camp it is chained to something but the peace of mind is worth a lot.

Geico- $70 a year for liablility and underinsured motorist/property damage. Have 3 street only bikes with them also. Their service is phenomenal; wife's Triumph got knocked over in Denny's parking lot by old lady; witness got license plate followed by a police visit. Next day a Geico rep wrote a check for a very generous amount based on Triumph dealer's assessment. Progressive through USAA was not competitive on the rates. Damn near double with all the bikes. They were competitive until the street bikes were added....
