But no, a short ride to the Mountains is in order Babbling brook on the way to the parking area This little guy made it 10 miles across the rockpiles GREAT JOB!!!
Here's a few pics of the fireroad the runs around 10 miles to Taskers Gap and connects all the trails there After about 10 miles of 1st and 2nd gear plug fouling ST rockpiles I find this. Wooo Hoooo 60mph water breaks!! But it was not to be...... These Iridium plugs always seem to foul after a few miles of slow going, the minute you wick it up they fry.
Except for the fouled plug, a nice uneventful 35 mile ride. Until........... I take the truck keys out of the Pack and guess what? I have the wrong keys. The truck keys are locked in the trailer and the trailer keys are locked in the truck. Not a soul anywhere. Now what.............. No tools capable of breaking the lock, even though I did try beating on it with a rock. So I hopped on my trusty steed and headed off down the FS road, I came to an intersection with some mailboxes and headed that way. Well guess what? The first caboose I came too, had this couple enjoying the evening drinking cold beverages and grilling out. The 36" bolt cutters I borrowed made quick work of this
So much for judgement day............maybe next time That's why I hate Virginia, ugly scenery, unhelpful people and nowhere to ride
I hate those plugs I had a standard plug in my RMX 2T for years no probs I put a Iridium plug in it only lasted half a ride
What part of Virginia is this? I've always wanted to visit Virginia, been interested in the Civil War since a was in grade school. Nice photo's, its not like everyday a person comes up to a caboose while riding...
Man, Virginia sounds terrible Love those pics Rob, esp the couple that helped you out. Excuse my ignorance, but what is a caboose?
A caboose was the last train car, the car at the end. We dont use them anymore in the States. I guess in Virginia they turned them into houses?
Great shots, love to ride there one day, love the east coast. By the way I have always had the best performance from iridiums. They last forever, the bike starts more easily in the cold and I swear mpg is better. Maybe its a 4 banger thing
Cool story and very good pics! The south has some very good people 4 sure ... And many hard wood trees making up beautiful forests ... ESP when the leaves change colors in the fall time ... You would not believe how long my ordinary plug has been in my bike ... starts 1-2 kicks ~every time or within .5 seconds on estart and runs good ...
LOL you had me worried, I live in VA. Yes nice pics. BTW I run a Autolite crossover plug in my 144 and I never foul a plug and only change it when I feel guilty or think about it.
Ya I can see why you can't tolerate Virginia I'd say pack up and move up to Canada...but you'd find the same problems here...unfriendly people and no place to ride. Great thread.
Thanks for the comments. The bar is set pretty high in this forum for ride reports. Thought the East needed a little more representation. I've got a few pics from our April Hatfield McCoy trip I'll get those up when I get a minute. Look for the thread " 'Tards Gone Wild" get the idea?
Well I thought you represented the east more than adequatelyand I have to join the chorus on the iridium plugs, not worth the room in your bag.
The area where the pictures are taken is in the George Washington NF near Edingburg VA on the western side of the Shenandoah Valley. I live a couple minutes from the Manassas National Battlefield and there are plenty of other Civil war sites nearby.
Nice pics Rob, I am going to have to get out of this terrible state someday. I have not been down to the GW National forest in a long time.
