well our Husky motors have been known for being awfully tight when new. one of the reasons most "in the know" recommend putting on 400-600 miles before doing the PU and ibeat adjustments to go along with it, since by then it runs NOTHING like it did when new and tight. All I know is in the first 1,000 miles with my 610 I could do decent 2nd gear power wheelies, 3rd gear, nnoooooo way.... now with 5,000 miles and just 2 teeth more on my rear sprocket 3rd gear wheelies are no effort at all and with a lil bounce n tug, loooooooonnng 4th gear wheelies all day long. Maybe kinda juvenile, but works as my own butt dyno... :D

That's been my experience so far with our '09 TXC 250 versus my '08 TE250. The TXC has more balls all around and feels more flickable in the woods.

really?? with the stock gearing by the time she was really broke in, nice 3rd gear wheelies were doable with a lil bounce n tug.... Going to a 47 sprocket made a big enough difference for 4th gear fun. Like I said a lil bounce and tug while in the midrange, makes for a "launch" at about 45MPH or so and can keep it up till about 65 maybe 70 MPH. Which depending on my balance and throttle control can make for a pretty long distance. I'm not that great at wheelies either. I could NEVER do a slow 1st gear one with the big 610 for example. I see some guys have no problem with that. I wish I had that kinda balance and control.

    highjack over.. ;)

Hope that new 250 loosens up for you. Be patient, the sweetness of the FI Te's are worth it..

Funny! Where I ride in slimey root trails I was considering a heavier flywheel to make it more tractor like.:excuseme:

I don't think you're going to notice a huge difference with a lighter flywheel. It's just the way the motor is built (cams, porting, etc.). You will notice a difference once it is broken in ( at least 500 mi.) and you have the FI dialed. I would wait until then before you make any major mods then you have a baseline to work from. The 300 kit would be the way to go from there.

my new gameplan is get the athena kit with no computer and then do the dynojet v5 with autotune.

(or sell the bike and get a husaberg, lol.......any takers only 40 miles on it.)

I think you won't be dissapointed when you do the Athena kit and a Dynojet. I did the Husky version which came with an 09 310 ECU and it too ran like crap (I have an 08 250) so I put the old 08 250 ECU back in and put a Dynojet on to change the fuel mapping and presto...3rd gear wheelies!! Actually the original 08 250 ECU ran better than the 09 310 ECU even without the Dynojet..those 09 ECUs must be too lean.

2 other thoughts before the big bore kit...

You sure you took that restrictive catylitic convertor out of the exhaust pipe before the muffler?

I read something that the 09 airbox was too restrictive and needed to be opened up or replaced with a TXC airbox or something like that???

Don't know about the 250 but my 09 TE450 came standard with a very restrictive frame inside the air filter (i.e. the part the filter itself wraps around). That was replaced on mine with a much more open frame as part of the power-up changes (the new frame was supplied with the bike). If hipsterdufus took the air filter off at any point I'd have thought it would be pretty obvious if the original standard frame was still there as I had to look carefully to see that there's any way for air to get through it at all.

I haven't had the airbox itself changed in any way on the 450 and it's running fine, but the 250 may be different...

ive been chatting with halls on trading it back to him for a wr300....they are trying to convince me to wait till italy calls them back on why the 08 250 is so much faster than the 09's.

people at the track were like why is your fuel injected bike popping, wheezing and taking 2 laps to get warmed up..and it still will bog if i snap it hard.

    -

all of my restrictors have been removed since new.

    -

can you wheelie with just the engine power at a slow rolling start? no arm pumping??

can you tell im irritated, :busted:

Be careful, the WR 300 is a beast that makes any 4 stroke 250 (or 450 for that matter) seem like a slug with salt poured on it.

When my dealer installed the Husky 300 kit to my 08 TE250 - complete with the 09 TE310 ECU (essentially the exact same configuration as a new 09 TE310) I was totally bummed with performance...I considered it worse than my stock TE250. It surged badly at low RPMs and backfired terribly on decelleration. Thinking it was something wrong with the ECU, we switched one off a brand new TE310 on the showroom floor and it didn't run any better, so then I thought it was something wrong with the install of the cylinder, but the dealer said it checked out ok. My comment to the dealer was "you mean to tell me if I test drove one of your 09 TE310's it would do that" and they offered to let me take one for a spin, but assured me mine was running better (even with all it's faults) than the new 310's. Knowing all this, it sounds like what you're saying is true...Husky knows their 09s have a problem and are working on a fix. I'm totally confident (since you did all the powerup things) if you have the dealer adjust the TPS and install a Dynojet yourself to override the ECU fuel map, you'll have a runner, and be way ahead (dollar-wise) on the beating you'll take trading it in.

To answer your wheelie question...first and second would loop me in a heartbeat if I wasn't paying attention, and 3rd needs a higher RPM for a slow wheelie.

I've not heard any complaints about the 310s behaving that badly... at least after the ibeat was used. I'll assume you had the Lambda sensor disconnected and the connector with the resistor installed at the harness. If you have any details regarding what Husqvarna might be doing in this regard I'd appreciate more details, post or PM.

What I have heard is there are some configuration issues when using the 09 ecu's in the 08 bikes. I'm not sure as to the details.

Dynojet Power Commanders do not override what the ecu does, it simply adds or subtracts injector pulse based on the map and possibly a few other things that can be connected to the PCs.

If that was a request I'll gladly delete, but see no reason otherwise.

I don't think you need/want a PC with the Athena 310 kit. It comes with it's own ecu attachment. Go here and dl the 3 or 4 docs for the Husqvarna 250 to see what I am talking about.
