I noticed MadDogTR mentioned the TCI windscreen. I went to the webpage for the screen, tried to enlarge the pic and was rewarded with a giant image of the mirror and that was about it. I took a look at one at Bills in Salem and like most of the stuff I look at at Bills, I bought one. When mounted it is 12 1/2 inches above the top of the instrument cluster. The Spitfire I was using was 14 1/4 above. The width at the top is about 14". The Spitfire tapered to about 9". It isn't adjustable but it looks like a lot of thought went into the design because the shape and width of the screen do a better job of moving the air to about the top of my helmet at 60 mph. I'm about 5'11". 100_1921.jpg 100_1922.jpg

I wonder if that would work with handlebars with a crossbar. I like the screen but not sure if it would work with my pro tapers. The mount on the clamp bolts looks like it would interfere. Looks good though.

Maier has some shields at closeout prices. just put the vortex on. Only rode 10 miles, wind hits about top half of helmet, I'm 5'7". At $57 your not out much if you don't like it.

Anyone know if the Touratech headlight guard will work with the factory "Touring" windshield?

Lol! Well it was about $15 more than I wanted to spend...but saving $50 vs. new is good too!

Just go down to your local glass shop and buy a piece of lexan, drill some holes to match the factory winshield holes, and vwaala!
I did mine for about $16.00. I figure why spend a lot of money for a fairing or windshield when you probably are going to drop your bike off-roading at some point.

I have tried 4 windscreens so far. All induce steering weave to some extent. My latest test will be with a KTM 690 Duke touring screen. Its available from KTM for less than $60. For more wind protection try the stock Triumph Tiger 800 screen. It looks great. You can find take-offs on ebay for around $25. Steering weave comes in at about 75 MPH. This tends to be a problem only on straight flat roads. Mountain riding below 85MPH and I have no problems.

I have a Spitfire installed and I noticed the rods that hold the windshield are aluminum. I carefully put them in a vise together and bent them about 30 degrees with my hands, both of them at the same time so they would have the same angle. I had about 2" of them in the vise and it works out very well, the windshield is a little more upright and doesn't come back near me or my helmet. The angle is just about perfect with the headlight cover now, goes between the cover and the gauge cluster perfectly and extends that line nicely. I'm not sure there's a better choice for the money, plus I can remove it in minutes.

The air flow hits me about half way up my helmet, which is about right for me, with very little turbulence.

This is the third repurposing of my Laminar windscreen. It now has three sets of mounting holes, but hey, it's paid for.

I had to bend the curve a little more at the top to get the air pocket in the cockpit to have almost dead air but it worked and I have no buffetting.

Hi all, I've just used a cut down screen from my old KTM 950 adventure, fits nicely gives a good level of protection and like all Ktm spares is very reasonably priced. image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg

I have an MRA sheild on mine now.
I am just too tall to put a big screen on my bikes without it being a HUGE barn door.
What I try for is a screen that takes off the wind load from my chest, but still keeps my helmet in clear air.
Super happy with this running 75 now, the factory screen helped, but this one takes all the wind load off.

I have this same basic sheild on my Versys and was very happy with how it worked on that bike.
The clamp on deflector can be swapped between the 2 bikes if needed and gives me a little more protection and a bit smoother air too.
