Well I've almost lost the heat shield a couple times. I definitely have to keep an eye on those bolts. I almost lost the bolts on the LV carbon straps on my test run , but they're tight now. I think the surge, or whatever it's called, probably is just a trait of the Husky. Really not that big a deal I guess, once you're used to it.
I don't JC, my 610 (which is carburated) used to have a bit of a stumble, much like you are describeing, but once I got the jetting dialed in it pulls very consistently from off idle all the way to redline. I would think that there shulod be enough adjustment in the FI to trim that stumble out. Maybe you just need to find someone that has been down this road before and find out what their settings are. BTW I absolutely love what you've done with you're bike.
I found the mid-RPM "hiccup" was greatly helped by the iridium plug and good jetting. I copied my setup from rajobigguy and it is good.. I can't improve on it. The low-RPM surge is either a real tough nut to crack, or maybe it's a feature not a bug.. one man's "snap" is another's "surge"
Jc thanks for the write-up Now tell me this; if we say that now, after power up and Leo Vince your bike is 10 out of 10, what was it before ? (Trying to put a number figure on it to make it more comprehensive for people like me ) Actually it’ll be interesting to hear anyone who made the change put a number figure on it Thanks
Thanks! I'm pretty happy with it. I'm probably not very good at describing the surge, because my bike also pulls smoothly from idle to redline. It accelerates perfectly and smoothly. It's more when I'm holding a constant low speed (like in 1st or 2nd gear) or when I'm decelerating quickly that I notice it. Well powerwise, I would say it went from an 8 to a 10. It's a really noticeable difference. After 4,000 miles, I had kind of gotten used to the power. Now with the power up, it's like wow, this thing really rips. I've done jetting and exhausts on my last three (carbed) bikes. They were smaller bikes. They were helped by the jetting/exhausts, but the gains were not nearly as dramatic as with the Husky. It made a big difference. If you're thinking about it, I wouldn't hesitate.
I am adding to my post, because I now have close to 1,000 miles on my bike since installing the Leo Vince and power up. I just completed a three-day trip, which gave me the opportunity to get a better feel for the bike since the changes. I can say that I am completely satisfied with the results. Driveability is increased much more than I initially thought. My trip included twisty mountain roads, steep climbs, and even steeper descents. The bike runs better, it no longer backfires and pops on decel, and it handles better because the power delivery is smoother. It also starts easier. I still get a little surge when decelerating, but only in first and second gear. Overall, I think this is a must do mod for all 610's.
