I struggled with the TMX on my 2000 WR250, 2002 WR250, and 2003 Honda CR250R. I didn't realize that I was struggling until I switched to a Keihin PWK. They all ran...

I have a TMX38 on my 06. If I have $450 that I can't find anything else to spend on begging to leave my wallet, I will consider one of the fabled Lectrons

I got my Mikuni to work very good on my 09 WR250. GAY Needle, 32.5 pilot, needle 1/2 step rich from 2nd groove from the top, 420 main and 1 turn out on air screw. I also modded the float bowl well to fill faster and the float level was critical. After getting it as good as I could I switched to a Lectron and the Lectron was better in every way. I got enough better mileage that I didn't need an over sized fuel tank. I spent at least $80 in jets and needles on the Mikuni which it now sitting on the shelf and not likely to go back on the bike unless I decide to sell it.

I'll tell you what, my TE 511 has turned me off of EFI bikes. So unreliable and unpredictable. It's never just right and even with the huge investment in a powercommander and autotune, the flameout issue still rears it's ugly head on occasion -- always just when you need the bike to stay lit. My WR200 with lectron is just about as smooth as the 511, but never dies. I can always hop that log or step up without even thinking about a flameout. People say EFI is great because it gets rid of having to jet the bike. But in reality it just shifts the time and expense over to fiddling with flashes and fuel/timing controllers. For the cost of a EJK, Bazzaz, JD Tuner or PowerCommander you can buy a lifetime of jets.

    that was my point
and to your point the jetting, the beauty of the Lectern is it does not need to be jetted for altitude or temp due to it being a demand carb

    I know efi is bad.
I know lectron is king. Of. The. Hill!

I also know $ 400+ on a carb as soon as you spend it you will wonder what took you so darn long!
The quality is there long after the price is forgotten.

An i paid extra £70 on import fees you guys have it easy. Mine was a £420 carb by the time i got it.
Not selling bike when it runs this well.

My 449 runs flawless with a PCV. Just goes to show that no 2 bikes off the same assembly line are the same, just like cars.

I had a WR360 and have had many WR250's. Strongly prefer the 250. Lectrons rule. My 511 runs perfect. :)

Actually, that's a very good point, Now that MotoSportz is no longer selling Lectrons where do we go for them, Particularly ones with the special needle for the 165??

The guys at Lectron are great. They know about these bikes and have the setup down pat. Kind of old school, so best to call and make a deal. If you bought a carb from Kelly they know it and are happy to help.
