    Well with correct rod and correct piston I have no idea what's going on with this squish clearance!! Head is being skimmed this weekend. Then I'll take another reading and source the correct base gasket.

    Does everyone run 1.8mm squish. Or should it be set a little lower? Not looking for a rocketship just reliable.

    i followed the workshop manual when i did mine. the jug is removed and the piston is slid in until it stops against the head. a dial indicator is installed and zeroed..then you assemble and get another reading, adjusting base gasket(s) until you get the proper spec. mine measured up perfect with 2 gaskets..

    Ive no clue what my squish is im gunna stuff my 93 cylinder n new piston on in the next week or so, will let you know if i find the same issue.

    Yup same issue swuish was 2.6mm like 100 thou odd, have had 1.2mm hacked off it now the combustion dome is protuding slightly into the cylinder, gunna assemble it again soon and give a good seeing too.
