what do you guys think of the stock seat? too hard? i stand as much as possible but def sit a lot for certain sections. love my stock WR seat w/gripper cover.

I think the stock seat is fine but thats just me. Some guys just want a couch. I too stand and sit, and at 5'9" sit a lot in the rocks to make a dab if needed. The Beta likes you to get foward for the corners, rewards an aggressive posture, and the firm seat makes this easy, it all works. That is a standard model with Sachs OC forks. Likely will need work for MA rocks but what doesn't, right? If you want to upgrade to KYB SSS forks they go right on with a upper clamp that is now available. Great bikes, I've owned KTMs and a lot of GGs and the Beta is a cut above IMO.

Like Glenn, I to like the stock seat and will like it more as I ride myself into shape. The first couple of rides my hindend let me know I had sat too much, but it's getting better - either I'm standing more or the backend is getting toughened up! And as he said, it really rewards you in the corners with an aggressive stance.

thanks, guys. the stock WR seat is perfect for me, soft enough for long days, firm enough for spirited riding. for the Beta, it's good to know there are some options out there should i find it too stiff. sounds like it's no where near the Acerbis X-Seat which is good news. that thing was evil.

GMP, yeah, i'm sure i will need to get the suspension worked over for the nastier stuff we ride. mag reviews make it sound like it might be OK for a bit. some say it's overly soft, some say it's pretty damn good out of the crate, some say it needs working pronto. i only weigh 165 - 175 (depending on favorite beer that month) so i'm hoping it works out. i'd like to drop the dough next season or end of winter rather than up front.

mtd, that's great to hear about aggressive stance and cornering. i like to sit way up on the tank and have some fun slalom-type trails that i was worried the bike might feel too big through. the 165 is a freekin riot through that kind of stuff.

typeone; I'm also 165 of pure muscle all packed into a 5'7" frame and probably close to twice your age. As far as the forks, I found them harsh to begin with, but now with almost 500 miles on it they feel much better - I'm thinking the spring rate must be close to just right. I have to get my speed back up to really know how they are going to work out, at present I'm only half-fast.

I've the 13 250 also.. and the 13 suspension is supposed to be soft compared to the 14's... I think you should be good to go...

The Beta feels heavier than the Husky just pushing and loading it because it is. Once rolling, it gets very light and very quick handling. The 2013 250RR is more of a race bike power wise than the 300, what I mean is it is very quick right off idle, and has a bit of a hit, the 300 feels more like 4 stroke.
'13 suspension works great in rock gardens, may be a little soft for hare scramble speeds.
Seat and suspension is pretty harsh when new, but both soften with break in.
I have a customer that put on a Lectron and says he likes it, but there is nothing wrong with the way it comes. Put in gas and ride it!

I put the JD jetting kit(with the powervalve springs) on my 13 250 and there is really no "hit" as far as the response is concerned...

does the Lectron smooth the hit? i have one on my 165 and love what it did to the powerband. how about a flywheel weight? any feedback there? i've been comfy on a CR250R in the woods before, with the usual mods, so i'd be happy with some spunk but on technical climbs, explosive power surprises get old quick (for my C-level skills).

glad to here there is a JD kit if needed. does he sell the PV springs as well? (i'll look around later on)
