Dealer very close by has one. Would LOVE to have it, but seems way too much work to buy a new bike and have to swap transmissions with my old bike. I ride dual sport as well and don't see 4th gear until about 40-45mph. Don't think the close ratio gear box would suit me well.

Any chance you measured the ring endgap on the old ring?

My bike has over 100 hours on it right now on the original stuff and I will not be changing it until the end of the season. Still feels good but you never notice the compression going down...

End gap needs to be checked with the rings in the cylinder bore, so if it's buttoned up it's too late. Not a big deal, just curious!

Send to Millennium Technologies and have replated for $250. Buy new top end here for less than $200. Why exaggerate prices? http://husqvarnaworld.com/Husqvarna WR,CR 250-300.htm

    Its a chance.
Also bike in a garage gotta be 40 bucks an hour to tear down etc it adds up...

I suppose but even if he paid shipping to/from USA it'd be much cheaper. I'm not mechanically inclined yet all the internet write ups and videos got me through my first few top end changes. I have a small cold garage too, lol.

Hi all, time to bump this thread with some fresh WR300 love  She's my new GF

Brought her home a couple nights ago, putted around the house and on my gravel road a couple of times, then had my first 20 mi. ride this evening. It's not true, unconditional love yet, but she has potential.
I found her on CL. PO is 40+ dad that didn't like her. Only 4 rides he says, so all original except @ 2" bar risers, radiator braces and guards and a Rekluse EXP 2.0! He bought it new in 2013 for @$5k, I paid $3600 cash.
It seems like the dealer setup was very poor though. Delivered with no case saver, cables routed very poorly and no lights  Is the no lights part common? I did get a title, so a tag is possible.

And, she's runs like sh*t basically. Blubbering and stuttering and spooging all over. I fed her Interceptor 50:1 with 93, no Ethanol, pump gas which cleaned up the very bottom and top end. There's still no real bottom or mid, just very bottom, blubber, then hold on for the top hit.
I adjusted the air screw to @ 1 turn out which helped a little too.
I'm waiting on a jet kit and cr250 reed block gasket to get the carb sorted.

About 1 min. into the test ride I stopped to have a better look. It felt like I had a scalded steer by the horns. Nothing but some top end and I saw the bars rotated too far forward. Also, the suspension was way too stiff for my 160lbs. It's obviously mint though, so just took it easy and then put it in the truck.

Btw, I've been riding and racing XR250's (XR350 briefly) for almost 20 years! My ex-racing bud is a YZ man. He has a YZ280 I've been wanting to ride, but haven't yet. Thanks to him I've ridden about 10 different YZ250s over the years as well as a few other 2t bikes he's built. I knew I wanted to try 2t again, but was thinking KDX or 200xc to check it out. When I saw this WR I just couldn't resist

This is my first GF with a Rekluse. I'm just riding fire roads so far and it's great except the no engine braking part. That will take some getting use to and may be the downfall of the Rekluse for me.
Even after one serious ride I find the 5 speed too tight and the OA gearing too low, so 45T rear sprocket in the mail. Hopefully carb, pipe, ignition tuning will make the tranny more tolerable.

I adjusted the forks and shock and handlebars, so now she's a little more comfortable. The stock bars with risers fit my 6' frame pretty well, both sitting and standing.
I can hardly find or feel the shifter and I miss the rear brake half the time too. I've got an MSR shifter in the mail and a brake pedal add-on too. Will add a Hammerhead shifter tip once I have a spare and keep looking for something that better fits my sz 11 boots.

And that kickstarter will take some getting used to as well. WT...? It just seems wrong for far

The original tires are Michelin Enduro Competition MS, not Meztelers. The front is actually pretty good, though with 12 psi it wants to climb out of any rut and the still stiff front end causes deflection on rocks and roots, it sticks in flat turns at speed even when wet or silty and it doesn't push or wash out...yet.
The rear is all over the place, but can't really judge it yet because of the light switch powerband and the rear spring preload is still way too stiff.
I'm thinking to change the front to 80/100 soon and looking at rear tire options too. I don't see many 140/80 I like, though I will have to have a big M5B at some point and there's a couple of big Perelli's to try. Plenty of 130s though, Motoz look really good, maybe a Maxxis IT and I've liked the Michelin XC M12 and S12 rears on my XR.
My current fav's on the XR are Mezteler MC5 front and MC4 rear, better than B'stone 403/4, 203/4 or any Dunlop for all except sand and serious mud which I have S12s for. Too bad no MC4/5 or 403/4 in 130mm or even 120.
I did find a deal on a Kenda Parker, so will add that to my tire collection to have a spare for the WR. It's 120/100, but thought I'd try it.

Ok, enough for now. Enjoy the ride.

Wait till you get her in the single track -- its a fun bike for sure. I just picked up a 2009 WR250. Here in CA I ended up paying $2900. Which is exactly the Blue Book value. So it sounds like you got a really good deal. Run the front Mich at 8 PSI. That's about the only way I could get it to work on my TE 511. My WR came with an AT81 which I kinda like on the WR. I'm in the same boat as you with the hit. It comes on very fast. I'm trying to wheelie this bike but the power comes on the the bike starts to loop. Scary. I'm thinking of putting a Gnarly pipe on it.

Hey Cosmo, I learned the hard way that trying to wheelie these bikes like a four stroke doesn't work. I'm on my third rear fender, lol... The Gnarly pipe, imo, is a worth while investment. It makes the
motor feel like a torque monster without giving up that top end hit. That and JD Jetts worked great for my 300. We should hook up, Chaulk Bluff ?

Well I am headed off to Rd 10 of the AMA National Hare and hound today. Where for the last 9 rounds my Husky 300 has been the ONLY Husky in the country with a AMA National # 1 plate on it.

That being said if I just finish Rd 10 the Husky will carry the National # 2 plate for 2015. If for some reason we do not finish we have enough points to carry the AMA National # 3 plate for 2015

So anyway you look at it there is my Husky 300 love post for the day. Still working on a possible new Husky for 2015 But for sure the 300 will be ready come Jan for Rd 1 if needed again

@NC Steve.... you should have discernable low mid and high power ranges. The JD jet kit still provides top end snap but reduces the loop out tendency. Blubber stutter and spooge will be a distant memory with JD kit IMO.

That's what I'm thinking and hoping. I want a tractor, but still have the option to wring it's neck as necessary. I know you like the stock carb w/JD kit, and should be fine for now, but there's a Lectron in my future.

She loves me, she loves me not? I love her...kinda' Anyway, now the romance is going on hold :(
One more ride tomorrow, then I'm gone to work. I got called back in after only a month off (usually 3 on, 3 off)

She is running pretty good with just lower mid range stutter left and a little spooge after 20-30 mi. Top end is amazing! Low end grunt is pretty good.
Kenda Parker rear (120/100) even @ 9psi still spins too much on the fire roads and a little sketchy on grass and anything wet. The stock Michelin rear was more predictable and did great power slides ;)
Stock Michelin front is good, but hard to judge because the forks seem to have mud for fork oil. I've got some good 5wt, but will have to wait until I get back. My local mechanic used to do wholesale tires and had a Kenda Milleville 80/100 leftover. Got it for $40! Looks like a good soft/mud tire. Planning on a Metzeler MC5 front for general purpose and looking forward to trying those badazz MotoZ too.
I added a 46T rear sprocket which makes 3rd much more usable. 1st and 2nd are still plenty low enough in the really tight stuff, with the Rekluse 4th is THE gear now and only get 5th in a few fast stretches.

Got a MSR EZ clutch lever/perch and Terminator cable, but again, will have to wait.

With the extra work I'll be able to afford a Lectron and some suspension tuning and maybe a better silencer/SA. If she acts right I may take her to the races next spring.

    cheers

The gearing I like the best is 15/48, opens up the gear spacing and with the rekluse 1st gear is still low enough for in the tight stuff.

Best mod that I ever did is go to a left hand rear brake (LHRB). With the auto clutch the bike is magic, much more braking control by hand than foot.

    I truely love my 300.

Thanks, 15/48 sounds good too. No prob with the case saver?

Which Rekluse are you using? I've just got EXP 2 and don't see the need for LHRB yet. I drag the RB a lot when I get up to speed and still work the clutch quite a bit too.

I've only had mine @ 3 weeks/100 miles, but the last couple of rides I've found a groove and felt the love a few times. I'm 5'11/160 and have a little ways to go to get the suspension and ergo's right for me. It ain't true love yet, but she got POtential.

    cheers
