Zip Ty Racing has a complete redo/configuration for a very reasonable price.
For reference there are other shops doing the same configuration set up with shared results .
Note none of factory or sattelite teams in any venues from MX to Enduro use the 4CS they use A kit cone valve forks.

ZTR 4CS Fork Mods around the paddock.

    1) AUG 2015 latest off the shelf Motocross Action has a test with and ESR (Earl Schuler Racing) modded 4CS bike----the ESR mod is the same type as the ZipTy Racing mod, even the same looking base valves (Blu anodized) are used, COMP on both bottoms and REB on both tops. They mention its a little soft for Pro moto, but good for ammies and older class riders---(for me, ammie offroad that sounds good!!). and also mentioned they work better through the travel .

    2) AUG 2015 latest issue of Dirt Bike has an ProCircuit modded 4CS bike (Bones Bacon)----It too uses the common ZTR type mod to achieve what they wanted as well. It also has those same looking/shared blue anodized base valves, with COMP at both bottoms and REB at the top of both forks, Pro Circuit even uses 2 red REB knobs with a REB indicator sticker on the left fork.

My take and I know all suspension is personal----for me the OEM 4CS were downright dangerous, I was clicking like crazy and had crashes in familiar stuff that I could fly though on my ex bikes, they simply do not valve flow well enough and get stiff and harsh from fluid lock, causing ugly deflections. For those who are familiar with our own George at S101 he will state the same. We worked hard to remedy it in OEM config but finally relented after speaking with LR that had his FE350 4CS reconfigured up at ZTR and said they were miles better with the Ty reconfigure installed (COMP on both bottoms and REB on both tops as seen on the above shop mods as well)
PS price for this ZTR change is waaaay below some of the radical custom set ups from other shops.
Less expensive and very effective = Win-Win

There was a KTM demo for the 2016's here a few days ago. Lots of people saying the 4CS for 2016 is greatly improved.

The price was excellent and suspension wise Probably the best money I've spent...especially for this bike in particular. I would've rather ridden with my 85 stuff than continue to ride the stock front end. Definitely a WIN -WIN imho! I wouldn't go any other route

It would sure be nice if The 2016 buyers didn't have to deal with the same problems...not what I wanted to do right after buying a pretty expensive bike haha but it's all good now

From the reviews here in Oz it has improved but not really fixed. Where is was harsh in the stroke it is now softer and where it was too soft it feels now harsh.
From the feedback, they haven't really changed the system or fixed the problem, just a bit of a revalve.

I can't give my opinion as the '16 s not at the local dealers yet, as they have plenty of '14 and '15 to get rid of. Good prices and incentives on '14s and '15s. If I was in the market I get one of these and have enough $ to get the forks fixed.

as they continue to refine the air fork set up they need to keep this 4cs thing alive for the consumer market. none of the race teams want it theres just not enough external adjustment , those things will keep on getting fluid locked from anything other than trail punter speed. prior to reconfigure i found the damn things dangerous as stated before. known technical rock spots that I railed over with my KYB zip ty TXC310R pitched me onto the rocks with these things prior to reconfigure. re valve or not I will never relent on my bad taste for these in OEM config. and I state over over no race teams want thiese things.

Just stay tunes as soon as my 2016 TE 300 gets here you guys will get the full race prep report I so begged for into from the WP guy and the Husky Factory mechanic who were at the National this weekend. They both told me not to worry it will work. So with the info I got along with the Tec support and set up from Zip Ty. I will be ready for Rd 1 of the National in Jan then 2 weeks later it is King of the Moto then on and on all year.
Where is my bike come on Husky ship it.

when I was up at WP Factory services the techs were very interested in how I liked my 4CS forks as they said they had a big role in the development process-----they were kind of bummed when I told them that after playing around for months- I had ZipTy Racing reconfigure them. They said they had new data and setup mechanics to keep them 4CS but working well (of course they said that). Anyway its a matter of time until we all have helium/Nitrogen/air filled spring less gas forks..........

PS I just ordered the ProCircuit 4CS top cap kit---- 2 Red REB knobs (I guess I'll have an extra) and a REB sticker for my COMP engraved cap. Just to finish off the set up.

PS Mike from Race Tech did tell me a while back that they were also finding that the reconfigure is the best, most cost effective (there is always a marketing angle to consider for a business operation) way to get 4CS forks to work well.
This now confirms what Mike Crow told me.
http://www.racetech.com/page/title/Fk GV Install WP 4CS Open Chamber

So on the cost effective "base Valve" added "open bath" 4CS reconfigure method, we have ZipTy Racing/ ZTR, Earl Schuler Racing/ESR, Pro Circuit, Race Tech and RT satellite Mike Crow Performance Suspension and ??

Here's another fix for the 4CS Forks.

The Ray Piston Kit for the WP 4CS is a modification kit that changes the fork to have compression adjustment for both valves at the bottom, and rebound for both sides on the top.
It does this by eliminating the check valve needles and incorporates a well designed hydrostop to prevent bottoming out. This allows for a softer feel at the beginning of the stroke. The high flow piston on the base valve improves the feel and performance of the fork. New shim settings are included for the rebound pistons. The shim setting is pre-installed on the compression pistons.
This new system allows greater range of adjustment for the rebound and compression.
Easy to install, with instructions included on the flash drive.

I have the 'full meal deal' from Race Tech on mine now - front to rear, Gold Valves and open chamber mod with the RT Adjustable compression base valves I just installed.
I havent had the opportunity to ride mine yet since I installed the adj compression valves in the forks - but I did put some time on it before I had a chance to do the last bit of the adjustable comp valves.

    Shock is amazing. Period.
Someone asked after some single track and moto what I thought of the shock and I paused, thought and couldnt tell him. It was there, didnt do anything but soak everything up, track straight, no kicks, spikes etc. nada, zip nothing.
Forks were 'almost' the same but just a bit firm in compression, but I didnt have the adjustable bases in yet - so what 'little' complaint I had with the forks (touch harsh in rocks and roots) will be dialed out with the adj valves.

Life, Vintage MX club and everything else keeps getting in the way of me riding ... LOL I know WAH...

Love the machine, just need more time on her now that I no longer have BiPolar suspension. I will openly state that the motor etc is stunning. I will also state I tried everything I could to make the stock suspension work for me but its BiPolar nature and me did not and could not get along. Fine one moment and then try to kill me the next (forks). Shock was always 'ok' stock, nothing to write about but workable. Forks? Very disappointing for a brand like KTM/Husqvarna to put forks on a 10k bike that are this bad and honestly no excuse for it in my opinion.
Race Tech did magic on my stuff and now its the bike I should have rolled off the dealers floor - I totally understand minor valve changes and tweaks etc but these forks for me required the $6 million dollar man treatment - gut it and start over.

Just noticed that MXA has another KTM450SX build from Pro-Circuit they mentioned that Bones did the suspension, nothing said about the base valves; however the in the fotos you can see the BLU anodized base valves are installed into the ex-4CS SX forks.......(FYI again it doesn't look like Pro circuit is playing anymore with 4CS as a system)

those blue (race techs valves, I believe are CRES) anodized base valves are not oem 4CS no adjust fork base valve "plugs". its mechanically/visually evident what they are using.
