• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

08 610SM Vibration - usual suspects eliminated.

Husqvarna
C Class
Mileage: 6500km
Valves checked at 5000km and were good.

So a couple weeks ago I noticed a vibration coming from the motor, and immediately went on a hunt in the forums for known issues. Found a few that seem to get a lot of talk

1. Counterbalancer nut & woodruff key
2. Cam Chain & Tensioner
3. Motor Mounts

So we pulled the cases, checked the counterbalancer. Woodruff key fine, and was torqued to spec. Used some Loctite & torque back on. Checked the woodruff key on the crank as well, nut was torque properly. Replaced and torqued to spec.

Clutch basket had no wobble.

Pulled the CCT and it was out 7 clicks. Reset and reinstalled.

1 of the top motor mounts was loose. Replaced with Nylock and tightened up

Put it all back together and the vibration is still there. Feels like rumble strips, but its constant, not intermittent like what most people report with the counterbalancer issue.

At this point Im at a loss. Im the second owner (since 700km) and have maintained well. Oil changes every 1500-2000km (its a supermoto so it gets ridden hard)

The only thing that comes to mind is that the previous owner had the oil overfilled a little bit. No idea how many KM were put on with too much oil, but couldnt have been too many.

I could probably change the cam chain, but I honestly dont think thats the issue.

Does anyone have any idea's on what else to check?

Having a little extra oil shouldn't cause a problem. The motor will push out what it wants to through the breather. Did you pull the clutch basket and have a look at the spring washers? I'd look at the oil pump and the water pump / impeller blades too.
