  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

08 te 450 battery

My yuasa seemed to glue itself to the seat pan recess/hold down. 09 TE450 w/ 380 mi. Short term solution being rubber splice tape.

Looking forward to seeing the durability of the Turntech.

Mine's doing great, so far. It cranks my 510 over very well, and the weight savings is worth the money, IMO. This thing makes the Yuasa feel like a boat anchor.

I'm a little worried about washing it though. It's not water tight, for sure.

I got the Turntech and figured I could find a protective case for it. I'm going to try a 3x5 index card case by Rubbermaid. Maybe cut some terminal holes and seal it up so it's fairly waterproof. First I'll have to see if it's too tall. Holds the battery nearly perfectly and I'll just add some foam to keep it from moving around. Even if I have to leave the top part off it will protect the case fairly well and the strap may work.

Pics later if it does.

Maybe been mentioned but the supplied connector bolts with the Turntech are too large for the OEM cables so have to get smaller bolt with nylocks.

Hey looks like the TurnTech took your advise, or some sort of ESP:cheers:
Went up in price too, $99 for the 2.5Ah now. Maybe it's Tupperware, that would explain the bump in cost.

I just got my Turntech about 2 weeks ago. I wish they would've let me know they were about to only offer them with a case. I would've waited for it as it looks pretty good.

I have several rides on my '08 TE 450 with the 2.5 and it is working great. Never even put a trickle charge on it.

I just paid the difference and he shipped an empty case right over...very nice fit!

Thanks for the info; I wouldn't have thought of that. I'll call them tomorrow. Did you have to remove the shrink wrap?

For those of you running the TurnTech 2.5Ah battery. Are you using the lights, blinkers and display? I am in need of another battery for my TE250 and would like to use the 2.5Ah vs. 5Ah. Any draw backs using 2.5Ah (stock battery is 2.5x) and this type of battery??

Just installed my turntech 2.5 today. Cranks better than my stock battery, however, I believe the stock battery is old. Easy install and way lighter! Taking a weekend trip to Kennedy Meadows this weekend and will report back on how it works for the full weekend.

Ran a national Enduro with the 2.5 and works great. Have not even thought about hooking a trickle charger up to it. My bike starts better with it as well which is strange. I am sold.

Have not bought one yet but the customer service is #1! Returned first e-mail in a day and replys with in hours. Still waiting,,, not really, for replys from thier competition. It's been a week.

Curious for some feedback from owners of 450/510s on how the Turntech has been holding up and did you use the 2.5ah or 5ah?

Thanks,
