    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

as the name suggests im having issues with batterys dieing
in my bike. to date ive just on 1000ks on my bike and its now on its 4th
one. each time its been back to the dealer and the one thing they have found was a loose terminal on the relay next to the battery witch
relates to starter motor and charge circuit? correct me if im wrong here.
im thinking its something to do with the stator, intermittent fault.
this is my first husky an to say im not overly impressed would be some what of an understatment.
anyone with any idears on what the issue might be would be greatly appreciated thanks jaydon:banghead:
 
Jaydon...I'm confused. Are you saying that you're not impressed with the performance and overall quality of your new Husqvarna or are you saying that you're not impressed with your dealer for not being able to find out why your battery keeps dieing? This doesn't sound major and is something that a competent dealer should be able to fix the first time so that you can enjoy your Husky. Going through 4 batteries is frustrating. Just so you know, this isn't a common issue as I've yet to hear of a 2008+ TE eating batteries. The bike is under warranty so I'm assuming that the dealer keeps replacing them!?!? Outside of the battery how do you like your bike? Power? Torque? Ease of starting? Handling? Ease of working on it? Weight? Good luck...I'm sure it's something easy.

Hi,

For it to be 'eating' batteries there is either a dramatic electrical drain or the bike isn't charging the battery when running. Put a voltmeter across the battery terminals and check the voltage with the engine off, then try the same again when the bike is running. With the engine off you should get 12 point something depending on when the bike was last run, with the engine running you should see around 14v. If the voltage isn't different with the engine running then you have a charging fault which the dealer needs to investigate.

Your dealer should be able to plug the bike into the Ibeat software and actually graph the battery voltage with the engine running to see what is happening in detail but the basic voltmeter check above should give you an indication of where the issue lies.

performance and handleing wise i love the bike. an it was the warrenty that sold me on buying the bike.if i was living just around the corner from the dealer so to speak i probably wouldnt be so annoyed with it. but Unfortunately for me its a 400 klm round trip to have the bike looked at.

in regards to charging of the battery as far as anyone at the work shop is concerned all is good. ibeat hasnt showed up any faults to date. load tested the bike is producing plenty of voltage.

sheer bad luck with a dud batch of batteries perhapse
 
my bike have got the same problem.
it 1300km on odometr and 2 battery been eaten.
dealer investigated my bike and there is Overcharging (around 15V) that kills the batteries.
i got new stator and 3rd battery, i really hope that now it will run as supposed to be.
 
Overcharging would be a rectifier/regulator problem, not the stator. If low voltage, then stator could be problem.

Is this on your 2010 TE510? Are you trying different brands of battery?

While 15V is not the best voltage to be charging at, that should not kill a good battery. I've seen cars charge them at 15.7 before.
 
they put new regulator as well.
yes my 2010 te510.
1st battety was original (italian) that came with the bike, 2nd dont know brand and
now they gave me new trusted Yuasa.
 
You are making the people in the USA jealous, you have a 2010 bike and ride it often :thumbsup:

very very common...... my mate and possibly 4/5 other guys i know put their husky's on charge night before a ride... mine has new battery top of range yuasa and can get tired if stalled a few times on trails... all other guys have same issue... big bore bike, smelly small battery.. i disconnected all my electrics to save any power draw...all lights horn etc.. but i also recently needed a voltage reg as it had chucked it so that didnt help... i use the decomp to aid it to start turn over (momentum) and it seems to be a lot better.. had bike checked over and volatge charging is perfect so defo a husky trait !
