  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

'10 TE 250 - Binding on Decel

I have a new TE 250 (180 mi) and it has started making this weird vibration/binding feeling when engine braking. Primarily at middle engine speed. I am a fairly mechanical person, but I have no idea where to start on this one. Any ideas?

Everything looks good there. I will get some blue locktite on those soon. It seems like the sound is coming from the right side of the motor. Its hard to tell if it is dragging since I am already under engine braking. Its kind of like a chattering sound and it feels like something might be binding up inside.

It is a new bike so you are probably changing the oil quickly ... Pay attention to the oil plug and what metal is stuck to it as this is about the only way to peep at the inner engine ...

Ok, sounds good. I just changed the oil again today and everything is still looking great. No metalics in the oil and definately nothing on the magnet. Do these bikes just rattle a lot under engine braking? Or should I take it back to the dealer and have them check it out? I've never heard anything like this out of my Japanese bikes, but I have heard that the clutches rattle a lot on Italian bikes...

My chain makes noise on braking...

I'd take it back unless you find it is some known issue ... This is why you buy a new bike with a warranty ... You have to take it or you are abusing both the bike and warranty ...

just check its not the floating rear disc.... i just added silicon to mine and its made a huge difference to the sound. this is a metalic vibrating sound, not binding...

Well... I feel like an idiot, but it was the front motor mounts. I went to locktite them this afternoon and they were loose when I took them off. Tightened them up and problem solved!!! Mototomer hit it right on the head. Thanks guys, this bike rocks!!!
