  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Is this also the case on the '13 TE310R ?

If your swing arm looks like this then yes. The asymmetrical shape allows for the shock body clearance. Put the bike on the stand, unbolt the linkage and the top of the shock and raise the rear wheel so the swingarm is parallel to the ground and twist the shock to clear the back of the motor as you lower it out the bottom. Goes back in the same way just in reverse. It is a very nice design.

It does, indeed, look like that!

Last week I wondered if you could do that, but didn't try because the shop manual indicates removing the subframe. Instead, I put off installing my beefier rear spring.

You just save me a lot of time and effort. Thanks!

Not sure on the txc's, I can ask Ty in the morning.

I called the dealer and they said they weren't sure if it was just the TE that had them or not. But I guess it's not a big deal that it doesn't have it. I probably would have taken it out anyway.

Mine came with a screen. I pulled it prior to the first ride on it. it is the same size as the filter and sits between the filter and sealing rim in your photo.

Also I am not sure if you know that you can remove the rear shock with just unbolting the top of it and taking off the linkage. One half twist of the shock and it comes out the bottom of the swing arm. No need to remove the sub-frame or anything else

Well Mr.Micfasto where was that piece of info a few days ago! lol That could have saved me some work :banghead: But it's alright, it gave me some more practice wrenching on the bike. I never even noticed that the swing arm had that design to it until I re-looked at that photo. When I usually see factory teams do it they seem to take the whole subframe off and everything (I guess to make everything easier to get too) so I figured I would just do the same. But thanks for the info.

Just about every other bike I have worked on you do have to remove the sub-frame to get the shock out. It was mentioned in the article about Scott Summers and the Husqvarna bikes from a few years back that the shock can be removed with the sub-frame intact. That is where I heard it and worked like a charm when I removed mine.

You can also just change a Rear Spring with the Shock still on the bike (top mount).

Undo the Linkage etc ... at the bottom and wind off the preload, swap Spring and away ya go !

I like the look of the YZF front guard on your bike! Does anyone have a pic of it on a bike with a headlight? What year model YZF is it off?

The one I am using on my bike is off a 2013 yz450f. However, any of the yz250f or yz450f's from 2010 and up should have that fender I believe.

I redrilled the holes of a 2012YZF450 fender to fit by TXC. At first it was a little weird because it seemed to stick out a little more. What I really want if the 450/511 front fender - maybe I'll spend some Husky-bucks to see if it will fit.

I want my suspension back sooo bad!! I can't take not riding...this sucks on so many levels. I've just been kind of adding little things to the bike since I sent of the suspension. New hour/tach meter, bigger rear sprocket, new top bar mounts, new hand guards, and a few other little odds and ends.

They will be here on Friday. My biggest thing on the to do list is getting the ZipTy bar mounts to fit the strock triple clamps and fit with the bike bonz top clamp. Other than that Im golden. I just hope I remember where all those wires go that are hanging down on the back of my bike :(

Btw Tinken, is the 4.1 you sold some of us Titanium? Well the muffler at lest. I called FMF today in search of a spark arrestor/quiet insert and they told me my muffler must be Titanium because they didn't make many aluminum stainless combos. Either way i scotch brited the can and am waiting to get my new sticker decals for the muffler as well. Now she's gunna have blue stickers just like in my username pic.

One other question...how should I go about drilling out the stock rubber pieces in the tiple clamps? The little rubber grommet/cone pieces that make the mounts anti-vibe need to be drilled out bigger to fit the new bolts of the ZipTy clamp. Idk if rubber will drill the same as steal or aluminum because it flexes and will also get hot. If any of you have done this before let me know how you did it and how it worked out.

May have to call Ty on that one, normally the cones just pull out of there.
