• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

14/48 set up

i have the jd tuner but i havent had a chance to play with it properly but it certainly did make a difference straight out of the box. air box is standard (surely it wouldnt make that much of a difference - would it??)

no idea about different ECUs. did they come out with different ones?

maybe it is just my ability (or lack there-of)

how would everyone else rate the "power mono-bility" of their 610's? ive done most of the power mods and i still feel a little underwhelmed.

I went one down on the CS (on a SM610 ) goes to 100mph at the rev limiter. I like how it runs this way , more bottom end ....

Lunger, depends on your rear suspension set up too. My rear has a wilburs unit with a stiff spring for my weight. I can lift the wheel in 1st and 2nd, but not 3rd. If your rear is softer your front will lift much easier..

Well that makes sense, I had my suspension worked on and set up for woods riding in New England and that equates to a softer ride.

Been messing with gearing, I've got a 13/46 set up right now and I really like it, but I think I'm going to go with a 14/49 which is about the same, just not as hard on the CS. I ordered a new 114 link RK 520 EXW XW ring to go with it. I have a brand new 112 link D.I.D that fits the 13/46 but the axels way forward in the swing arm. That said, I have a new (3miles) D.I.D o-ring chain (520 -112 link) and a 46 tooth iron man sprocket (4 good rides) that shows no wear if anyone's interested.

I'm on 14/48 and it's too short for rallies. Going to go back to 14/46 - I really find it runs out of puff in a high gear around 5000 revs. Low speed acceleration is awesome, but 14/48 is just too short.

My riding area I never pass 3rd gear. If its still too low, I'll try the 15/49 and see how that works. What ever I don't use or sell will fit the WR 250 I'm going to buy. It's an 02 and the stuff should fit from what I've seen.

Hi,

So, is the 112 stock chain size too short for a 14/46 combo? .......or even a 14/47?

Thanks.

112 works with 14/46 and might work with 14/47. I have a 49 rear now, so the 112 isn't going to work. I ran 15/49 yesterday and it was good, but I only did it because my 14 was so chewed up and the new one hasn't come yet.

Thank you gentlemen.

are you going to run 14/49? thinking about trying this myself.

Iron Man rear and OEM steel front. I've tried a couple of other front sprockets and they get wrecked pretty fast, but the OEM one seem to last and fit better. BTW, I just put the 14/49 combo on with a 114 link chain. The adjustment is pretty far forward, but that's better than 116 adjusted way back.
