• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

14T or 15T countershaft sprocket?

I put a 15 tooth on yesterday and tried it today. As far as I'm concerned this is the way the bike should have come stock. I found that I was either too high in one gear and too low in another before. With the 15 the ride was just better. Not over or under revving and power always right there when you need it. Taking off from a stop is improved too. I was afraid that the gearing may have been too low but it was just right. With the 15 and the throttle adjusted this bike is so much nicer to ride!

Yep, I agree with everything you've said here. Much more response when giving it a blat from low revs. I reckon my fuel consumption will actually improve as well, as there is a lot of 80kph (50mph) speed limits around town here and with the new gearing I can sit in fifth comfortably at that speed. Love the throttle adjustment as well.

I stuck a 15 tooth on tonight and took it for a quick spin. It's 25 degrees and snowing so I had to keep it short but I could definitely notice a difference for the better down low. With the stock 16 I was at 62 mph at 4k. I am now running 60 mph at 4k. Really looking forward to giving it a go on the trails. So often I'm running in 2nd and want to shift to 3rd but regret it because 3rd is too tall. I think now I'll be much happier in 2nd and 3rd in the dirt.

Finally had a chance to do a little thumping offroad today. I can't believe how much better the 15T does off the pavement. I rarely had to shift from 2nd to 1st. It's just enough to make the bike so much more enjoyable and keep from toeing up and down all the time. Highly recommended in my opinion.

That was the 15 tooth front sprocket. I will be putting it on tomorrow and hope its as good as the write ups.
Next time I will just buy through " Chain Gang sprockets" & (chains ) as I did with my CRE 500 Good service and a great product.

just bought one.. what was fitment like? did you need to do anything major to the chain or just tighten?

I just had to make a slight adjustment at the rear axle to allow for proper slack but piece of cake overall. I got my sprocket from touratech. One of the easiest and quickest upgrades so far.
