• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TE/TC '15 TE150 build

After the couple of cold days when I first got the bike running, we had a return to more seasonable fall weather. Riding the bike in warmer weather and tighter woods, revealed the what I now know to be.... the infamous NOZI needle stutter, at 1/8 to 1/4 throttle. I dropped the needle and went down a pilot size... better but not great. I then went back to the stock TE125 NE1G needle.... definitely an improvement, but still a slight stutter at constant 1/8 to 1/4 throttle. I decided to try the Suzuki needle that is closest to the NOZI and went with a NECW. This needle is a lot smoother in the small openings and transitions nicely into mid top.

My last enduro is Sunday and after that, I'm trying a Lectron for comparison.

Norm,

What did you need parts wise to convert your 15 to a 150?
Crankshaft, piston, cylinder, head, PV assembly. I bought it all slightly used, from a person converting a new '14 150XC to a 200. I also bought the 150XC CDI box, as all advised this swap to make it run the best.

Looked at a end of year deal on a 15 TE125 they were trying to get out for just over $5K. Was thinking, if it was just a little less that would make it awfully tempting to make it a 150...

I rode an FC250.... Nice, but I'm too much of a 2T guy. The engine braking is not my cup of tea and it still feels bulky compared to a 125. I've ridden a '16 150SX, it feels like a big 125. My TE150 or the '12 150XC I rode, feels like a small 200.
