• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Just changed to a 15t CT sprocket.
Nice.............
What fueling problem??
No. It just made it more liveable.

I have a new Renthal Chain and Sprocket set up, 15/47T and I am very pleased with the results. Not so snatchy or luggy in 1st and more driveable in slow traffic. Extreme top speed is not really relevant where we are and I am considering going to a 49T rear but the bike already wheelies often enough.
Fuel consumption is directly proportional to the amount the throttle is twisted, I find the lower gearing much more usable in all conditions so far and no great change in the consumption - for me its the smile factor every time.

I tried a 14 and that was too low for me. The 15 made my bike drivable in 1st and 2nd on the dirt, where as before the speed I wanted was right between the two gears.

Top end may or may not have suffered. Seems I got decent mileage with the 15 on the highway (70mph), but the 14 dropped me down quite a bit, and was not fun to rev out to keep up with traffic. The 16 loved 75 on the freeway.

I tried a 15T recently but didn't really like it. 16T works great for my needs, including the dirt. The 15T wasn't very good on my commute to work where I need to go between 70-75 mph.

I'll try and get out on the freeway some time this week and see how it feels at normal cruise speed (75-80 mph if I was driving a leased BMW 3 series or an Escalade).

Been looking at getting a 15 which one did you guys go with? (aka im not sure where or what to order because I figure ill get the wrong one)

EDIT Just noticed the other thread which has wondering links to amazon with exactly what to buy....

I have a 15 front sprocket. I'm wondering what most consider acceptable rpms for highway driving. I ride with friends who have BMW 800 twins. They like to cruise at 120 - 130km/hr. With the 15 tooth at those speeds I'm over 5000rpm. It seems high for extended periods and its quite vibey. Is it just me? I'm not used to singles... thoughts? I was thinking about putting the stock sprocket back on:excuseme:

I found the 15 tooth too low for road sections.
I put the 16 back on and changed the rear from a 47 to a49 tooth.
For me it is a great compromise, good for slower technical riding but high enough for the road.
The 49th that fits is a Talon TR366 (520) to suit a BMW F650 93 - 99.
I hope that helps.
Cheers
Craig

The CBR would be great on the street. Not so sure about the trails ;). I'm curious to see what folks think is an acceptable rpm for extended periods...

Was just teasing about the CBR but, Our stock gear ratio stock is 2.94 and the 15X47 ratio is 3.27. Crusing at 70 mph (113kph) does not feel strained at all

From memory, someone posted that cruising above 5500 increased their oil consumption. I guess that would depend on the overall condition of the donk.
Good question tho

edit: Or rather, at this point he noticed that it started to consume oil
