  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

125-200cc 165 owners, what sprocket sizes are you using?

Thanks johnnyboy I will now have to find the best guy to carry the conversion out I was going to send it to maxpower as there is nobody in the uk doing I don't think is it?
They were the ones telling me about the race fuel so I backed out but I would really like it done

Best Guy to convert it is Walt (wallybean) as he is the man that developed it, He will machine the head to suit our fuel, he also matches the power valves to what looks llike a slightly different angle. Prices are really good and spare pistons and rings are just a pm away.
If you do go for it when posting it send it as scrap or vitually worthless as the postage can be ruthlessly expensive.
Also to get the best out of the 165 a exhaust really helps but will run ok with a 125 item.
You can make the 165 into many types of power delivery with pipe changes you just have to decide on what suits you best, I like the more top end types but also love a good low end type for playing trials in my local riding spot.

Walt did it in America, the only one I know in the world who does these conversions. He is on here a lot. But I think what he did to my head has nothing to do with fuel, more to do with the fact that the head will be running a bigger bore.

Who is Maxpower? What do they know about Walt's 165 conversion?

As johnnyboy said

The kit runs OK with normal 97 gas

if fuel is really crappy (in Asia it is) you look at a modification of the cylinder head but so far I know that is only done for Asia and Australia bikes

the lectron is a no brainer in all aspects.

it saves you time (no tuning anymore ones it's set good)
it saves you fuel (its more economical)
it reduces the spooch out of your exhaust
it gains a bit more power
it makes the power delivery smooth

Its in my book the first engine upgrade on a motor with a conventional carb.

Raced mine on 95.....no problem. I was never advised by Walt to be careful with fuel.

In England your blessed with better fuel conditions then in Asia, the composition of the fuel from the pump is for sure different here.

On top of that you have quite a few individuals that provide the service of selling fuel in a little shack near the road

to max their profit they do add questionable elements to the fuel to make the volume higher (its sold by the liter)

don't buy the fuel from them but on a trip to the middle of the nice riding spots there are no regular petrol stations and it might be the only option

after the head modification (lower compression) it is all fine

slightly little punch but an engine that is lasting under these conditions.
