    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks Tony, this frame and 2 seized motors was the reason i got the two bikes so cheap. I think this one will be an awesome bike, like the first. The seller said he wanted to make one GOOD bike from the two, looks like I'll get them both done! Sweet!!
 
Chris if it's like my 77, the cups need to be driven from the frame and an adapter machined to press back in, to take tapered bearings, preferably the most common ones you can find, a bearing shop should be able to advise.
Ive looked at mine thinking I may do the same.

Got the stuff back from the plater and dropped the rear hub and back plate for powder. Ordering spokes tomorrow for the decent rims. One off the 73 360 RT and the front from John at VH. Not an original with the weird outer bead but period correct. Get to start polishing the front hub and plate. Hope fully have a roller soon.

I've started the assembly of the bike! Found a bunch of other stuff to get plated so more blasting. I also re-spoked the wheels but am unsatisfied with the rims. I called Matt at S&S and he said he can get a set of nice ones, so I'll order them Wed. and use these as upgrades for the other 71 enduro. Which I must say runs and rides sweet!

so I've been waiting for a new set of rims and figured I'd get the front hub and brake plate polished with the front lower tubes. Looks like someone milled on one of the lower tubes. Why would they do that?? Also I was looking for someone to re chrome my upper tubes when I found that DC plastic sells them new for less that the price of re chroming! Chris

Looks like the tread in the new tubes is 1mm over size to the stock tube. The od is still 35mm. Anyone got a black leg tube that they can measure the id for me?

My set of black magnesium forks are together so I can't measure them but based on your pic I'm sure your new stanchion is for the black leg set up, which will fit inside the gray slider but requires the dampening spindles and related parts from a set of black forks. Why one of your gray sliders is milled is beyond me.
 
Thanks Crash, They were listed for 72-77, but are their really a 1mm difference? You would think that they would have gotten thicker not thinner! My problem is the cap and valve body are loose in the new threads. Can I use the black leg tubes in the silver leg lowers with the black leg valve body and cap? I can always use them on the 72 450 or 77 auto but since I bought them for the 71 enduro c that's where I want to use them!

Just re-read your post Crash and understand the interchangability. I'll check my other Enduro C to see if the lowers are in better condition, NOT MILLED!! Too bad It's a rider!! But It's almost Winter so I've got until Spring
 
The stanchions got thinner in an effort to remove weight. When combined with the black magnesium sliders a total of 3lbs was shaved off the front end. HVA engineers were obviously confident the necessary strength was there or I'm sure they wouldn't have made the changes.
 
Thanks again Crash, I'll use a later set of fork parts to make it work. I would still like to see a measurement of the inside of a 72-77 upper to make the final decision! Anyone got a 72-77 upper tube that can be measured? Yeah team.
 
Husky Club Newsletter # 38 has several pages devoted to forks with pics, part #s, interchangeability, and more. According to the article these are the dimensions:

Early fork tubes ID - 26.7mm
Late fork tube ID - 28.7mm
 
I took the cap off one of my 75 black legs stanchions and the ID measured 29.29mm. This measurement was taken just inside the tube where the cap threads are. I wouldn't doubt that beyond the threads its a bit smaller.
