• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

1973 400 CR

Not to take the wind out of anyone's sails - have a bit of 'social distancing' time so a quick drawing for air bell brackets for a MK framed 400 below. Dimensions are approximate taking in account 47 years of vibration and rebuilding. Replacements out of 1/8" x 3/4" aluminum are quick to make and are lighter as a bonus.

Very nice! Thanks so much. Great reference for all. Now, another guy is sending a set of 3 from his 400 Cross, so a few years earlier. His have only 2 lengths. Is that one set for the early, and one set for an MK?

The 70 - 71 400s have one long and 2 the same length. The 73 400 has 3 different lengths. It also varies per displacement and year - 250, 360, 400 or 450. For such simple parts there are quite a few combinations.

You know I just have to ask... what happened to 1972?

So, I've now got 73 drawings, and a set of 70-71 coming in the mail for copying. If anybody wants a set let me know and I'll get a price. Current plan is 1/8" aluminum.

Sorry I’ve only just found this thread. Going back to your chain clearance problems - would using a non o-ring chain give you a few mm extra clearance?

Yes,I can speak from experience,O-ring chains are wider, at least on my 1975 CR, it JUST clears barely, actually too close:o

Thank You. Yes, I tried a standard chain, but it was not enough. I went ahead and re-built the lower shock mounts, moving the bottom eyelets outward a touch. I need to catch up on the updates! Have had it running and it's a beast.

Hi, I'm new here. I was excited to find recent conversation about the air bell mounts, since my 1974 250WR is missing both left-side parts, but now I see there are a bunch of possibilities, so I'll probably have to make them.
