• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

1973 Husqvarna 250WR

I'll keep this tank on it but have to find someone or way to de-dentify it. There was a pic of one on the Cafe with a champion sticker on it and I want to replicate it but can't seem to find the pic? Any help is welcome! As for the Pegs they were in my pile and I had them zinc plated. I like them and they fit right in. I'm going to use aluminum fenders but still can't find my front mount. As for the 450 in the background I thought I had a Motor built for it But only have my 0008 motor on the shelf so I have to start building one, I think I have all I need and another 6 speed in the piles, Thanks Crash!!!

Crash after looking at 10milloin pics yours is the closest. I must have been imagining the tank. Thanks for the Pic!!! Happy Independence Day to All!!

Got the forks rebuilt with the new sliders. Thanks for the Parts Marty!! Had to swipe the rebound springs from some other forks. Drilled the lower inside washers to 10mm and added new seals and cleaned up wipers. So now to rebuild the other set!! Looking for a set of rebound springs. Got a ton to blast and powder and get zinc plated .

Those black leg forks are rare, key giveaway are the four ribs on each side of the brake plate lugs, and the sliders are 1/2" longer than previous black fork sliders. Its my understanding that they were available in 77 only on the 250WR, and the Auto. The spindles have a larger diameter plus 8 inches of travel. I've got a set on my 75 450 with Race Tech emulators and springs. The improvement is impressive once they're tuned to the rider level and terrain.

Chris, why do those fork spindles have top out springs? The piston ring makes the springs unnecessary. You'll loose an inch or more of travel.

Thanks crash I did not know that I assume the Springs were supposed to be on there I can't find a drawing of one without the springs good to know I'll take them apart and remove the springs I bought these lower section sliders separately so I'm amazed they're both the same I guess I got lucky thanks for the help

Bummer that you have to take 'em apart. For clarification I've attached a pic of the 77 250xc suspension exploded parts view.

14 is a dirt scraper. Most replacement seals have them as a small lip at the top, so an individual one isn't necessary. The fork rebound spring is one piece, don't know why they split it in two.

anyone know what this spacer goes to?
