As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.
When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.
Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.
Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.
Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.
Thanks for your patience and support!
I wonder if that is how EvapoRust got started. That is about what it looks like after a few months of work and I have cleaned motor windings that were submerged.View attachment 89109
Have you heard of using Molasses to remove rust?
All the small parts in this pic were treated with a molasses solution, brake drums, u-bolts,
coupling, etc.
I have used it with all sorts of parts,
You must measure everything out properly though.
The ratio is 10 to 1.
Here is a chrome rim that I soaked in the solution for 3 days, the clean patch is where I rubbed the rust off with my finger.

Start with 10 liters of hot water, mix in 1 liter of molasses, the hot water helps to dissolve the molasses.
I get mine from a Fodder store, they give it to horses.
If the mixture does not cover the parts don't add more water! it must always be at the 10 to 1 ratio.
After 3 days I remove the parts and hose off with water to remove the crud, place back in the solution for another 3 days then
hose again, keep repeating.
It works and it's cheap!
You can even put starter motors and generators in the solution it will not harm the windings if they are in good condition.
If the solution stops working, mix up a fresh batch, every time you remove the parts after 3 days
and hose them off you should see a difference.
It is best to keep the molasses solution covered, so a bucket with a lid is a good idea, any
bacteria that gets in will breed.

Hi guys, trying to track down the main clutch springs for this old girl. 1612 556 01 x3. Are there any springs that are compatible? I bought a set of the green 1st gear springs and 3 sets red springs for the 2,3and 4 from tritrophy on ebay. So now I need the main clutch springs. I know, I know The 500 is next, but you got to get the parts when they are available!![]()
I just emailed that listing, let's talk.auto said:I have a nice 84 AE500 for sale.
Just to reiterate. I am not dying for these parts. I have a complete 360 auto motor that only needs the ignition and carb which I have. I'm going to put the motor in the bike this weekend and see if I can get it to run. I appreciate all the parts help but like I said I'm broke and not in a hurry at this point. When I get some funding together I will probably start back on this motor. If you saw the start of this thread you'll see the motor is just the beginning of my problems. I do have some new parts for the corroded motor, just not all of them. I'll be PM'n you guys when I've got more money! These Huskys are costing me!! Can't imagine what dartyppyt is spending.86 400 LC said:one way bearings
Assuming that Joe Morel is still with us, he is not known for bargain pricing either.
