• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Hi, I was riding my 1978 390 auto today and it was running great and then it jump out of engagement and would not stay in? Any help. Thanks Doug.

Thats very helpful, one thing I noticed is my 420 does not have that cover for the springs in the 1st gear clutch,is it only on the 390.

Zim, is it the one He is installing on this picture?

If you don't have any spring cover, get one!
One broken spring might destroy your "clutch/kick" cover

Hello Bryll
It could be good if you could translate all in english :notworthy:, so I could translate in french for users.
Thanks
Michel

OK, I'll send him a pm in the Swedish Husky forum and ask for it as a word document or similar.
I think it will be much easier to do the translation then.
It could also be posted here as a pdf file when I'm done.
(If anyone can understand my translation;))

He might want to translate it himself, would make it easier for me :D

I'll send the pm right away...

I will ask about where to find it when He contacts me regarding the pm I sent him.
The military version of the automatic might be the only one equipped with the spring cover when delivered from the factory.
That model was the 258 Military Husqvarna.

You could try to contact KNÅDA SPORT in EDSBYN, SWEDEN. It's the shop Arne Kring (famous MX driver in the 70's) once started. Couldn't find any mail or homepage of the company, but I did find a fax number +46-271 340 72.

I'll be back with more details later on.....

I got the authors permission to translate his excellent document
It´s now up to me to create a word or similar document of his html, so I can send it to Michel for the French translation.
I wont try that language, my knowledge in French is only some cursing :censored:
You have to blame my English teacher if you don't understand the translation when it's finished :excuseme:

Regarding the cover over the springs, this is obviously an after market item and can be bought at a few Husqvarna dealers here in Sweden.
I don't know exactly where to get it at the moment, but a good guess would be at Knåda Sport.
Ask a shop close to you and post any success here.

I'll let you know when the document is finished.

Hello Bryll
That's goods news.
I know that a french friend made cover spring for 430 AE.
Michel

Sounds like the engagement gear and shaft are worn, you can get them repaired but the best thing is to put the 420 shaft and gear in there and make a lever to engage them.
