    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Hello. I'm restoring this bike and will post pics soon. I have a question. Did this bike have a splash guard/rear sub fender? Or did the rocks just smack into the back of the airbox? The box plastic seems a little thin for that abuse. If it came with one, any parts source for aftermarket /repro? I have a splash guard thats like the one on my '77 and the three mounting rubbers. But it wont fit. Next: did the ohlins decal and the left side shock res. Go on so its upside down when clamped to the frame in the stock position? Thanks for the help
 
Thanks, hard to see. I wish there was a good blown up pic of both sides. Those look like '80's but I'm sure most stuff would be the same. I guess the cables were silver with the little oilers, but you probably can get them any more. The bike came with a front brake cable guide/loop. Its like a white plastic with a slotted screw to tighten it. I'm trying to figure out if it was original eqip. I suppose it was just above the lower fork mount? I'm also trying to source new nylon chain slider blocks for the front chain guide. Seems like there are 4 seperate pieces. Might try to get some plastic from mcmaster-carr and make them if they arent available. The devil is in the details!......Thanks for the help
 
The white plastic loop that guides the brake cable housing when the front fork works is original. EBay may offer the chain sliders.

There was an after market air box stone protector. Husqvarna-parts or vintage husky offers it. Some bikes I had were using leather or rubber zip tied to protect the Air box.
The leather was old and very hard so it's been on them a longtime.
 
Well bikes almost done. I'll post all the pics of the build as soon as its complete. Just ordered a set of yellow plates from John at vintage husky where I bought the bike. He took it apart and shipped it UPS, so It was kind of hard figuring out some stuff when putting it together...... Thanks to all for the answers!....... One more: John said the left side remote res. Ohlins sticker would have been right side up when mounted on the frame. But someone said husky put them on right side up when off the bike and when the res. was turned and mounted to the frame it was upside down. Seems trivial I know ,but I'm trying to be as authentic as possible. Might take it to some shows.
 
another one......the "Ohlins' decals for the remote shock res. :black or yellow? I've seen both but dont know which is correct/stock
 
The decal on the remote resivour shocks is yellow, i can't help with which way the decal is mounted, but i think John would be correct, i hope so! as the decal on my remote resivour shocks is right way up when mounted on the bike.
If you need some decals Motomwo or Marty who is a member here sells them. Ive bought plenty from him, he's great to deal with, maybe he knows which way up the decal goes :excuseme:

Thanks for that. I have a set of black ones "husqvarna-parts.com sold me. Anyone need them? He wont return my calls, so no sense in thinking I can return them. Maybe someone doing a rest. that isnt so concerned with correctness might be able to use them
 
Update: Marty wrote me back. He said Ohlins would have installed the stickers before sending them to husky, so when the left res. was turned and mounted to the frame with the hose comeing out of the bottom the sticker would indeed have been upside down. Does make sense.
