  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Hi I have a few questions regards my WR390 1980 wiring that I was hoping that someone might be able to answer.

Does anyone know what the white and yellow wires in the pic are for? I want to connect the headlight and tail light, I assume there is a regulator missing but on ebay I have seen 1 and 2 wire regulators for sale and wasnt sure which type my bike needs.

Also does the 1980 use 12 volt lights?

Was there ever a light switch on the handlebars or are the lights just always on.

Does anyone have a schematic or wiring diagram for this model?

Awesome info Visiteur1948, but still not sure what the white wire is for, you mentioned "stop" Is this stop lights?

You need the one wire regulator. Yes lights are on when the motor is running. You can wire in a switch if you want. If you want a brake light the white wire is for the brake light. Other than that just use the yellow wire for the head light and tail light. Yours is 12 volt system. I have regulators if you still need one.

Perfect thanks Motomwo, Thanks for the offer of the regulator but I have already bought a bargain on ebay. I will just wire the lights direct and skip using a light switch on the bars. I wont be licensing the bike so no need for a brake light

1983 Husqvarna 125 240 430 WR wiring diagram.jpg

Found this one in another post.

Edit.
Not the correct one, but it might give you a hint .......

I'm confused also. The 82 83 diagram applies to me as my motor is either 82 or 83. The motor has 2088 stamped on it that I thought meant cr but it has an sem ignition of a wr.

From the stator I have two free yellow wires with female bayonet type plugs........the rest of the 3 wires goes to the black coil.....they are green, black, and a reddish brown ones. From the coil comes 1 new colour of a light brown orangish colour with a Male bayonet end. I also have a loose alternator with a yellow wire coming out with a Male splade connector.

If I want the front and back lights to work and a kill switch what do I do?

Secondly if I want the whole hog.....as above plus brake lights and indicator lights horn etc what should I do and is there an easy wiring harness around for this?

Hope it make sense?

Hi everyone,
I have 1980 390 OR
Im actually starting on wiring headlight + brake light.
I thought my system was 6V but im reading here that 80s models are 12 V ? Im still not sure...

If mine is 12V is it ok to use LED lights for the setup ? would that be ok ?
Do i have to add anything else besides a regulator ?

Thanks in advance
